Granted. Life expectancy decreases due to the fact that people no longer show symptoms of serious illness, and as a result, they don't get treated and they die sooner as a result.

Furthermore, this change affects disease as well, and results in epidemics never going away. In particular, the Spanish flu is still just as deadly as it was around 100 years ago, and COVID-19 is actually worse than it is.

I wish for the country of Other to be wiped from the map, and that it be done without affecting people living in countries other than Other in any way.

Granted, the border of Other is fenced off because it's all exposed mantle now, which is a big problem because they had a shoreline and now the ocean is draining into this 20-mile-deep hole. A dome is built over the hole to keep the steam from spreading over other countries, but they're denied the resources and energy that this contraption is generating. Several species of sea-life go extinct as their every specimen is lost under the crust, but's all worth it because remaining shorelines won't flood from melted ice-caps, right?

I wish the bucket full of over 1,000 pennies I found 2 days ago was clean -no rust, water, or non-metals of any sort.

Granted, but unfortunately the software the bank uses to sort the pennies is written in rust, so there's no way to convert the pennies to more useful currency.

I wish that Python would replace JavaScript for front-end web development.

Granted, but it is for only one glorious nanosecond before javascript is brought back by the terminators plunging the world into it's dystopian future a matrix that runs on javascript to which the human race is enslaved.

I wish that Nyarlothotep was real and that H.P.Lovecraft was his delusional fantasy literature; wherein tales of 'normal spacetime' and people just getting turned around in completely rational ways instead of truly 'lost' became it's own genre.

Granted, Nyarlothotep's success in pioneering the "smart planet-dweller" genre exposes him(?) as a sadistic creep; ol' Nya decides he's had enough of the teasing and goes on a shooting spree to fill as many garden-planets with large asteroids as possible.

I wish Earth was a planet where all surface-solids were soft, no sturdy rock or clang-y metal anywhere.

Wish granted, all hard substances are replaced by soft sponges, that cannot be used in any kind of manufacturing whatsoever.

I still wish for Star-Chan's return and change of heart; and if that's not possible, at least for her to see through the indignities of her "friends" and associates, to better value her own self :'(

Granted: Star-Chan's heart changes into an orange.

Unfortunately, an orange does not fill the role of a heart, and the result is not pretty.

As punishment for murdering Star-Chan, your heart is also changed into an orange, with similar hearts.

I wish romance hadn't wormed its way into seemingly every work of literature (including theater, oprea, and more recently video games).

@TheKing: Granted, but the Goggles guy from System Shock 2 turns up, and when you ask him if he's up for a threesome with you and Shodan, he just says "Nah" and has you pushed out of an airlock into space.

It seems that the wish granter is feeling rather nitpicky, and chooses to nitpick rather than grant the wish, pointing out that:
* "was" in this context is gramatically incorrect, and you should use "were" instead. (Ever heard of the subjunctive in English?)
* SHODAN appears to not be a girl, and therefore can't be your girlfriend. (Then again, the wish granter didn't bother to look up who, or what, SHODAN is.)

I wish people wouldn't get so angry when others correct them on their grammar.

You forgot to make a wish, so it's not granted anyway.

Hence, i doulby wish for my unique, precious, gone Star-Chan, to hug me again and kiss me like back then, while her eyes mirror mine and look up at me with that wonderful, clear, honest, tender gaze, that no other pair of eyes in the entire world ever had.
