JMich: If you browse from a phone or a tablet, you can't hover to get those controls. So there's no way to reply or rate a post, or get the link to it (the little chain icon). Safari seems to be able to handle those, as long as there's a link to click on first, since it will translate the first click as "hover here", but unsure how well other browsers handle it.
Unless you mean hoverboards, in which case I've no idea why he's upset.
Okay stop it...Back to the Future 2 sucked! 1 and 3 were great but #2 sucked the sweat off a dead man's balls! :DUnless you mean hoverboards, in which case I've no idea why he's upset.

"hover controls" are when you hover over an area and it appears. I agree that these are very annoying. Why do most people try using custom software? Just get a pre-existing software and tweak it a lot. If they want a free solution, go with MyBB, vBulletin is owned by the worst company possible.

Nope, Internet Brands. Back in 2010/2011, vBulletin was the most popular forum software around. Then IB purchased the company and everything since then has went to hell. The software is buggy, full of bloat and the older versions (pre-4.x) are gone. Once the best software that everyone used, it's a despised product and nobody will use it.
If anything, the only decent paid software are IPB and XenForo: the latter is actually developed by former developers of vBulletin who resigned because of IB's decisions that have wrecked vBulletin. If GOG wants to go with a free software, there's a few out there, the most recommended being MyBB.
I should know: I own a vBulletin license that I refuse to use because the software is so crap and I saw how bad the company had become: people who complained were immediately silenced and, overall, vBulletin should not be used in any shape or form.

StingingVelvet: All gift and giveaway threads should be condensed into one giveaway thread stickied at the top of the forum.
I accept that giveaway threads and begging is a problem for some (many?) users, but I don't agree with this solution. I think unified threads would be too unwieldy and it would be difficult for users to manage their own giveaways. A sub-forum for giveaways might be a better solution - gifters could still have their own threads and nuisance or banned accounts could be blocked from accessing the sub-forum.

It is a good job that I qualified my desire for a vBulletin forum by saying "Possibly an old version as I don't know what new ones may have ruined." I haven't used one regularly for at least 5 years and the version reported currently by that website is 3.8.6Post edited May 16, 2014 by J_Darnley

Enebias: Posting on the forums should be forbidden for accounts with no games bought. Adieu, mass downreppers, "spambots" and scammers (or, at least, part of them)!
this is a really nice idea, it could be taken a further step: first 1 or more* games purchased - access is given only to the game specific forum(s) for the game purchased + maybe allow access to general topics if sub forums are implemented for things like giveaways and anything else that might be abused by duplicate accounts and trolls (obviously those sub forums would remain access locked until the new account is fully established)
*I'm thinking if more games have to be purchased, or if a dollar value is associated with this barrier it will make it harder for the abusers to get through - determined asshats may not be deterred by having to buy one or two $0.99 games?
**perhaps users who register a credit card or verified landline telephone number could bypass this challenge immediately?

I don't think the wishlists are part of the forum but I say this here anyway:
I have repeatedly reported duplicates on the wishlist (with links and all) and nothing has ever happened. :-(

Hazing? XD Just the thought has me in pain laughing. Make the underlings spend the 1st week wearing dog collars and keep them crawling around on their hands and knees. XD
