According to a TopWare Interactive representative on Steam, this game was sort of rejected by GOG back in the days, but we all know that sometimes GOG can change their decision. Moreover, the publisher is still doesn't mind releasing this game on GOG.

There are not so many decent "pirate" action-RPGs in general, but I think that Vendetta is one of them. If you like the genre, and especially previous games made by Reality Pump, you should definitely give this game a chance!

Wasn't this game a pile of garbage originally so they rebranded and re-released it ? i don't quite remember the story tbh.

Also i can't fault GOG for rejecting a TopWare game and especially this one which has a quite shady history, i hate TopWare who is as scummy as any of the large AAA publishers and been for a long time.

Yeah, there were a lot of bugs in the original release because this game was a victim of production hell. Initially, Raven's Cry was developed by Octane Games, but they screwed up, so Reality Pump had to rebuild almost the entire game from scratch in a very short time.

Vendetta is not just the same game under a new name. They polished it well, added some new mechanics and quests, re-recorded English voiceovers, and so on. Moreover, all owners of the original Raven's Cry received Vendetta for free, so I see no problem with that.

It was originally released as Raven's Cry and the reviews and bugginess were bad.

But let's look into whether the game might have come out buggy...
Reviews the last year (since Nov 23, 2018):
56% positive from 32 reviews (from Steam Purchasers)
58% positive from 39 reviews (from non-Steam Purchasers)
57% positive from 71 reviews (Overall)

May have improved a little, but given that a Median game (half rated better half rated worse) gets an 81% positive and a mathematical average for a game is 79% positive, this game is far below par. On top of that, there were allegations that Topware was promoting fake reviews, so it was temporarily removed from Steam in January 2016 which likely explains the disparity overall as compared to verified Steam purchasers.

This is just another example of GoGgers hearing about a game getting rejected and then acting like the game is much better than it really is. The game is 5 years old. Horribly reviewed. Very few reviews. When you have that few reviews from 500,000 to 1,000,000 estimated Steam owners for a $29.99 game that has never been bundled, it means this game has been given out for free many times and even then, people don't care enough to review it.

I played both versions of this game, so your example is incorrect. This game is pretty decent, even despite it's janky sometimes. It reminds me of the Sea Dogs series a lot, which is also janky (sometimes even more broken than Vendetta), but it's here. Vendetta is definitely not much worse than the Caribbean Tales or Risen 2. Don't make me point to games with the same characteristics that are already on GOG, or to games with less than 10 votes in the community wishlist, which have also been added to the GOG catalog. I think that games like Project Warlock or maybe PC Building Simulator are for "make more money". Vendetta is about the soul.

I don't see any connection between the quality of the game and the price of Steam keys on some unofficial (or even illegal) marketplaces.

Where have I said something about its quality? That incidentally seems to be pretty sub par now that you ask me.
I have nothing against the game coming here, I just don't think it's a very good or successful game. It's not so old that it's what the GOG fan base wants, it's not so new or good that it can generate a lot of interest, and it's been really depreciated in value with a 16 cents price and many keys flooding giveaways, especially compared to the 30 euros asked.

It's a horribly reviewed game that generated zero real interest as noted by the 60 Steam reviews a year written over 5 years despite being given away everywhere and thousands of keys available for less than $1.

The game is objectively not good. It hasn't improved enough to garner better reviews. There is absolutely no way this would be a profitable title for GoG.

Not to mention the usual argument from these people who can't find a GoG rejection not to complain about...
But there are other bad games that came here...as if that is a good argument.

Look I don't know how dumb you are, but clearly this is just another of those threads intended to complain about GoG's curation and try to force them to change their decision. The OP mentions GoG's rejection in the first sentence. Are you blind or just stupid? He clearly is NOT just saying he enjoyed the game. You are as bad as he is...

No Ravens Cry was and is a terrible game, just let it die. I have no idea why you would want it here as it was rejected for good reason and there should be a law against selling such a mess of a game.

Unfortunately, it seems that the one who is "blind or just stupid" here is you. So please stop putting your thoughts into MY words.

I really think that this game is not bad at all and deserves to be here. Yeah, it makes no sense to deny that it's janky, but it's janky no more than Two Worlds II, for example (which is already on GOG). However, technical flaws are offset by an interesting story with a lot of black humor (remember the soundtrack) and very solid naval battles (for a "broken" game).

I played both versions of this game (mainly Vendetta, because it's more polished), I really liked it, so I know what I'm talking about, while all your "weighty" agruments are: "those sales", "those ratings", "those reviews", blah-blah-blah, toxic crap, and so on.

Maybe you should stop looking for opinions across the Internet and finally create your own?
