I was about to go "not this thread again" but the people complaining have a point.

Randalator: I'm sorry, the banner clearly says "Get LIMBO for free with GOG Connect". That isn't misleading in the slightest - it's just what it says on the tin.
People aren't required to know what GOG Connect is when they land on the front page. It says "get for free". The user clicks, awesome, gimme gimme, I'll sign up for whatever scheme you offer, a survey, I'll fill that baby in, Galaxy, fine whatevs, I might as well install it on my folks' Windows PC while I'm helping them uninstall browser extensions over Thanksgiving. Haha lol nope, cockblocked, turns out you have to (1) already own the game on (2) a third-party service. This is not free!

I absolutely do not subscribe to the notion that GOG Connect somehow unfair to existing users, but the wording on the front page is bad and people are justified in feeling overhyped.

This. Absolutely, this.
Oh check the over entitlement. I want I want I want! Just remember, this kind of attitude led to Donald Trump becoming President.
Ok, I bothered to look. First thought: "Ah, yeah. Its that platformer I would totally buy if I where into platformers with the interesting art style I saw screens some time ago"

2nd thought: "These fuckers make a fuzz about a game currently a less than 2 dollars!?" Of course I only thought the f curse word to myself and not spoke it out.

dwgog: [..] It seems terribly unjust and misguided even, to exclude users who, like me, are here on GOG specifically because we do not use Steam. [..] GOG: Can't I be rewarded for my loyal patronage, too?
I agree, because I've boycotted Steam for ages (before Connect).
But.. there's nothing to do anymore, as Gog has already decided.
So, I just grabbed the Limbo freebie on Steam and then connected it here ¯\_( '_' )_/¯

Fairfox: Trump cames about, Imma presuming kinda like your own Brexit, by regular peeps feeling down-trodden 'n' not heard/generally listened to, resulting in backlash that will probs harm 'em in teh long-run moar than anything, but it was a (stooopid) 'moment o' passion'/wishing to have a voice or some-such. I don't really has an opinion about teh game/Steam/Connect/etc, but I don't follow your train o' thought in this case (/disagree with your premise), nopers.
Look up the anti-Trump student crowd and you'll understand. I want I want I want.

They really should fix the headline, it is definitely ambiguous. I cannot stand this sort of clickbait or misleading advertising. It is as bad as saying FREE* or 0,-* in an advert.
Well, if someone who missed the freebie from some time ago on Humble Bundle and Steam really wants the game, I still have an unused Humble Bundle Gift Link. The link is still valid, but I don't know if once redeemed the included Steam Key and DRM-Free installer will be there to grab, because sometimes these freebies are only available for a short time...

While I agree that it could be a bit clearer, but honestly I'm not sure what there is to fix?

I mean, it states that it's a free copy with GOG Connect, which isn't wrong or misleading. You don't have to pay any extra to get the GOG copy if you already own it on steam. Also it states that it's available through GOG Connect which, when clicked on, explains the service to those who are unfamiliar with it. Also I don't see how it's clickbait at all, especially when it is exactly as stated in the banner.
