A platformer that you'll surely dig.

Shovel Knight, the award-winning platformer that devout lovers of the genre are constantly raving about, is 33% off for a few more hours. Grab it while it's hot!

Starting tomorrow, March 3rd, the game will be getting a permanent price increase. This will better reflect the free content that the game has received since its release, as well as the upcoming free update that will be added to it later this spring.

Existing owners of the game will not be affected by the price change.

To better understand the reasons behind it, make sure to read this comprehensive Q&A by developers Yacht Club.

The 33% discount will last until March 2nd, 11PM UTC. That's tonight, so act fast!

Completely understandable.
I still cant understand how this is working, I bought the game, and each year I get a new campaign for free.
I dont think anyone should or may complain about this.

Uhm what? They rise the price because of "free" content? Well, that`s not free content then!!!!
So, is this like pure platform game or what?

Doesn't matter to me. In order to stretch my budget fairly across all appealing projects, I set a $5 limit on IsThereAnyDeal's notifications system and wait for however long it takes for the developers to feel they've exhausted the higher-priced market niches. (And I don't remember it ever discounting more than 50% ($7.50) here so far.)

As much as Shovel Knight was one of the hardest games to put out of mind after putting it on the waitlist, it's hard enough finding time to play the games I already have these days, so I'm in no hurry.

I just hope the price increase will bring it to no more than $20, given that it's especially rare for modern indie titles to see a discount higher than 75% here.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it's a "free update" incoming, when it's included in the price raise.

Still, no skin off my back, I surely would not "dig" this game anyway. I have no nostalgia for NES platformers, and this seems to be the only selling point.

Thank you for the notice. Was looking for a better offer on the game since it doesn't seem to have much content so I guess it will have to wait another 2-3 years.

Edit: Price will increase to 24.99$ as per data on developer site. Good luck with that price.

And deleted from my wishlist.

trusteft: So, is this like pure platform game or what?
Yes. It's a tribute to NES platformers like Duck Tales and Mega Man.

It's very reminiscent of classic NES games like Mario, Mega Man, and Ducktales. If you like platformers then I'd definitely recommend it!

Just a heads up, Shovel Knight has never been discounted any more than 33% on GOG or Steam in its entire history and the devs have gone on record as being against the "devaluation" of games through the offering of high discounts. I think it's safe to say that this price, right now, is the cheapest that Shovel Knight may ever be. If you may ever want it, now is the time to buy it.

This is why I love GOG, what other side would tell you about something like this and give you a discount as well. Thanks GOG for not behaving like the rest. Others would just bump up the price and say nothing about the price increase.
The game I bought mainly for its great trailer music... only to realize later the ingame music is quite different. :)

Oh well, I am sure it is still quite a good platformer, I trust others' opinion on that.
Already own the game so I'm getting the free updates like they said. Really looking forward to Specter of Torment.
