HereForTheBeer: If Dell would put the best stuff in the XPS chassis I'd likely be getting yet another one.

Gede: What is wrong with the Dell XPS line? I like their XPS 13 line. Too bad they are very expensive.
Nothing is wrong with the line. Just wishing they would throw in the higher end GPUs and 17" screens like they used to. If they did, XPS would be on my shopping list.

----

That's some nice stuff PainOfSalvation linked: got some good choices for the OP within his budget. That last one, the Asus Strix, looks interesting. Gonna have to see how well the cooling works on that line. Definitely less "LOOK AT ME!" than the regular RoG units.
avatar
zeogold: Does anybody know anything about the customer service for each laptop company?
Yes

not existing as usual :(

And most problems anyway arrive after warranty or similar is over, batterie pack and similar

That doesn't seem half bad, although those red WASD keys look absolutely daft. "Hey, guys! I'm totally gamer now! Yeah!" *le sigh*
If you're on a tight budget check out the Dell Inspiron 7559 with 960M, 8GB RAM, Intel Core i7-6700HQ.

I use one and I'm pretty happy with its performance for the price.

Seems that Strix is the thin-and-light line. I always wonder about the cooling in a thin chassis...
Here's my laptop.

It's a pretty good deal for the price.

I have a Lenovo Y50 Touch and I really like it. Good hardware for a decent price. Plus, the design isn't super garish. The keyboard isn't great, which surprised me from Lenovo, but I'm not writing papers on it.
Not ASUS, I am sorry to say.

Did you have problems with a ASUS?

No, but my friend did. His inverter died, couldn't find it on eBay and he called up Asus and they say they don't sell that part so he's screwed.

For me, I've been staying away from Asus for a while more because I'm not fond of their mobile division. I really don't like that proprietary cable thing they do with the Transformer tablet. And their phones are quite bloated with poor updates.

In the past I had pretty good experience with their customer service when I used to build my own desktops. But right now, they don't offer any products I'm compelled to buy.

mm324: Did you have problems with a ASUS?
I did, but it was Windows 8.1 when I bought it, but supposedly top of the line - what could handle DA:I six months after release - it crashed twice critically.

Really badly - I had to restore factory settings.

With Windows 10 it has been better - but I also think a "plainer" or more down to earth set up would not have suffered it. Just because it is gaming attoned does not excuse fatal crashes!

What I want to say: do not be too cruel to ASUS if you intrinsicly like it - just know what sort of rig you want.

I was an unconditional Mac-fancier, but the moment their intent to eliminate incorporated CD slot was annouced, I was off Mac. That was too arrogant for desing to stand!

I will not renew ASUS, perso. Windows 8.1 must have been a formal corporate agreement, but it was exceedingly poorly executed to my experience. Had I hopped on upon Windows 10 - I might think different. But 8.1 it was.
After much consideration, I think I may be leaning towards getting a desktop instead. It's just more bang for the buck. I should probably just make a new thread, but...eh.
Any desktop suggestions?
PS.
For any other Mac fancier, my second and the more fatal crash happened with ASUS laptop because I was ignornat how limited the PC boot-drive is.

With Mac bootcamp I could carve out a large and highly functional single hard-disc driver for Windows from my iMac. When I crashed the second time my relatively tiny "c:" drive had been over-whelmed by game-installs, without leaving enough boot-disk space to uninstall anything!!

My personal moral of the story: later leared Mac arrogance vs Windows - humm, I will not suffer the Mac arrogance, not that Windows boot should not suffer idiocy! Just make Windows boot sophisticated already, please!

The future of PC rig is either corporate or gaming - and here i'd really wish Windows would shape up for the latter!

Edit: to make clear, the "arrogance" I refer to was to eliminate CD slot from Mac computers. I

know many do download their games - but the idea that I should stick with an erstwhile PC icon assuming that gamers do not generally have gaming CDs... Sorry, no!
