I’ve been trying to find the cd key to this game for hours now and cannot find it. I would like to transfer this game into Steam so I can use the patch which supports higher resolutions etc. Can some one please tell me how and where I can find the cd key?

You can't transfer games to Steam here. Any game bought here is a GOG game, NOT a Steam game, GOG is its own store and not a key reseller.
If you want to play your game on Steam, you can try emailing the publishers with proof that you purchased the GOG version and ask if they'll give you a Steam key for it.

Sounds like you should be asking on the Steam forums, not on GOG. GOG and Steam are competitors, thus you will never get a Steam key through GOG.

Well, it sounds like he bought his game here, from the way he talks. The Steam forums couldn't help him more than giving him the same answer, that either he needs to contact the publisher or he's out of luck and should ask for a refund or something.

Well I was able to transfer games like Dragon Age Origin from Steam to my Origin with no problem so was thinking that maybe can do it here too. Oh well I should have bought this from Steam, the patch isn't available on GOG unfortunately. Thanks for answers

You can just mod your GOG game. Try checking out These Instructions.

I could try modding this even though Steam patch was made by Aspyr/mod team and includes several upgrades and bug fixes... Steam offers superior service atleast to this game so in future I likely buy most games from there.

Oh, well DA:O is an EA game and Origin is an EA service, so in your instance, EA is trying to encourage people to use Origin by letting them redeem their EA-published Steam games on Origin.

GOG's sister company are the folks behind The Witcher series, so currently if you own The Witcher 1 & 2 on Steam, you can redeem those keys here on GOG.

Anyway yeah, unfortunately there are instances where GOG lags behind in patches for one reason or another. I'd suggest you try GR00T's modding link, and just wait for a Steam sale on KOTOR II.

I modded the GOG version easily enough, so it's not that difficult, although yeah, it does require a little more effort on the user's part. I buy games on Steam as well, but personally, I prefer GOG's DRM-free service over Steam. Your call, though. If Steam provides what you want for your gaming needs, then by all means shop there.

*edit*

Oh, and if you check out the Star Wars KotOR forums, you'll find a couple stickies, in one of which you can find the exact patch you're looking for Here Includes simple instructions for installation.

edit: This image is a joke based on the similarity to the quote from the movie. I haven't tested this patch myself.

Nice! I hadn't even realized what I wrote was a fairly close paraphrase of that famous line.

Why not contact Aspyr and ask them about why the game isn't patched on GOG?
