You really shouldn't give this a pass.

King of Dragon Pass, the updated version of the seminal strategy/RPG with innovative storytelling, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% discount until December 10, 11PM UTC.

Almost 20 years after its original release, the fantasy classic returns with a sharper UI and the lovely illustrations cleaned up to be more on par with modern standards. Its seminal worldbuilding and addictive gameplay are as absorbing as ever, plus the added content promises to give veterans extra incentive to return to this wonderful saga.

This is a free update for all owners of the classic version, which is now included in this as a bonus goodie.

Watch the trailer.

pmcollectorboy: I'm really enjoying the game, but can I have just one little thing?
The ability to select quitting the game from a menu!
All you need to do is press 'Esc' and it'll give you the quitting prompt.

Holy cow. That wasn't made apparent. Nor was being able to read stuff that has been cut off by using a mouse wheel(the scroll bars tend to be invisible).

grozen357: Unfortunately, after the update to the "Remastered" version, GOG Galaxy supports only it now. At least I haven't found a way to detect the original game after installing from "Backups & Goodies" page. Is it a limitation of the Galaxy client, or I'm doing something wrong?
It is in the library.

Just tried it. I like the new tutorial, it helps clarify a lot of things that were somewhat vague and troublesome before. Problem: it is crashing anytime I look at a myth and anytime I click "How to Play" on the main menu. Have not tried to troubleshoot much yet, came here looking to see if this was a common problem or just my PC being a pain.
I remember reading after the release of this version that they changed something about how cows are handled, in the original game it was a more randomized aspect of the game but since the game is largely based on luck (at least that's my impression playing and reading about it), changing that to a more rational but rigid form was perceived as helpful for newcomes but some old schoolers found it "destroying the charm of the original".

Anyone that could clarify this? I actually like the ignorance as you play this game in the beginning but after a while it gets boring if you can't anticipate what makes a difference if you never really make any real progress.
Thank you gog, you're the best. Thought I'd be buying this a second time for the update elsewhere, but this is above what I would have dared hope.

RadonGOG: A little letdown: This is more like a 2012 remaster than a 2017 remaster. Todays remasters should support arbitrary resolution, not just up to FHD like this one does...
avatar
HunchBluntley: I would assume it's the same version that's been on Steam for a couple years; if that's the case, then you're close: it's a backport of a mobile version originally from 2011.
Oh, yes. That would explain a lot...
...good to have it anyways, looks like a huge improvement on first try.

I just tried the updated version, and it wouldn't work, at all. I had to restore it to the previous version.

You are correct. Galaxy support was dropped for the old version.

The old installer « backup & goodies » needs manual installation, and won't show in galaxy.
Nice! Thanks =)

Vythonaut: Now, listen to me: DON'T ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS GAME, JUST GET IT!! ;)
NNo, no, no, it should be:

DON'T ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS GAME, JUST PLAY IT!! And get it if you don't have it yet

;)
Thanks !!
I still have to play the original game, so this is really a cool thing for when the time will come.

But why no UPDATE and/or CHANGELOG happened in the account ?

If I missed this forum entry I wouldn't know about this.

The added content? What added content? I did a quick google search and I can't find any description of what the remastered edition provides over the old edition.

Looking at the App Store version history the new version originally came with "over two dozen new scenes" and "new treasures". Over the last six years at least 37 new scenes and "more treasures" have been added in updates.
Some scenes that were in the original have been fixed as well, like the troll invasion (it never activated, leading to the cragspider exploit).
