If I remember correctly, it supposedly started out as some publicity stunt on Long Island until some weirdos took advantage of it, started dressing in clown costumes and ACTUALLY tried kidnapping children and committing various acts of violence.
Over here, there's been a few cases where these folks almost succeeded before being chased off by bystanders.
But then again, we've had roving bands of teenagers before (sometimes upwards of 50) doing the same thing, just without the costumes, so it's not like it's anything new or different.
The scariest thing in this world is the people in it.

This time is two movies, and aside from the clown it looks really good. The first trailers should be showing up any day now.
I hope for your sake its a good movie, you seem to be excited about it.
I think it'll be rubbish though. Maybe I"ll be pleasantly surprised, doubt it though.

And I have to give the movie going public credit for that. They don't want shit remakes and they are letting the producers know it. Footloose, Point Break, Red Dawn, Total Recall, RoboCop were all mega flops and cost the movie companies millions because people refused to support them. They keep losing money like this and they will change. They will give up on the remakes or at the very least try to make the better.

It's the bad remakes that are a problem.

and it needed 300 million to even break even hopefully after the latest flops the remake train will finally be derailed
And as far as stopping, they are currently remaking Road House and Dirty Dancing, which will make four of Patrick Swayze's movies .

But I still have little faith in the Hollywood remake machine atm because I tend to be wary once burned.
They have an uphill battle ahead if they want me to not be wary of an announced remake. There may have been some more recent ones that were good/ok/not bad... but the ones I've seen were bad.
So with their track record of pushing shit title after shit title (in regards to all titles, not just remakes), and only a few goodies here and there, I'll remain wary at best.
