Maighstir: I don't know, but it's close enough to "don't" that I attribute it to a mistype.

HunchBluntley: Come on, which is more likely: that he accidentally mistyped TWO words in a six-word topic title, or that he is proposing that children have developed some kind of alternative thought process relating to a person named Thier Born? Your typo theory just doesn't make sense!
Guys, guys. I was typing that post on my Nokia with Internet Explorer, you should be glad it was even legible. I have to type everything three or four times on this godforsaken piece of crap phone.

All right. I see your point. Now to go hang my head in shame, as I don't know Thier Born in any way, and need to figure out who that is.

Relax, it's not intended to be a jab against you. We just found it funny enough to start building a conspiracy theory around.

I think both work actually, typo or not. In the case where you take it verbatim, there could be a bunch of fathers out there who don't even know they had a kid much less know them.

On the other hand, if there was a typo, they may not know where they came from. Either one is quite the conundrum.

I smell a cover-up. I bet you're in the pocket of Big Nightcraw1er, and he's telling you exactly what to say. Well, I won't be silenced! In fact, I'm off to make a shitty YouTube video right after this to spread the word about dont knowing and its connection to Thier Born! #IKnowTheTruth

Don't forget, I know your past.

HereForTheBeer: Are Grammar Nazis outlawed in Germany? ; )
I hope so, at first i thought they were just a bit uptight but overall harmless internet dwellers. I didn't know they were actually harassing people called Grammar.

It wasn't even legible. I still have no idea what the title was supposed to mean. People have been discussing various alternative interpretations, but as far as I can tell, nobody has mentioned yet what it was actually supposed to say.
Starting Warcraft 2 in Windows 3.1, to overcome the 8 megabyte memory requirement on a 486 machine with 4 mb..... success, after 10 minutes of real time. Then crash after loading first map....

I still have my first hard disk drive. It works! (kinda)

Well, it's not quite the same spelling, but if this song is any indication of the rest of his music, then Andy Grammer deserves to be harassed, I'd say.

Hehe, it became better after I upgraded to Dx4 with 16mb of ram. =) But still up to 256 colors mode 13h : /

yeah there is a bit of disconnect between the the title and the post. coming in from the title alone it was kind of obvious to point out the irony but then the op demonstrated that they do know what they're talking about and aren't a part of the audience to which they are referring.

but yeah

that title is some next level shit.

nightcraw1er.488: Nope, not me just moaning, saw this on the bbc:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-35890450

Just reminded me how far computing has come in such a short time. I remember writing code on a bbc micro to control a circuit board traffic light. Dot matrix printers, although punch cards had just gone out when I was learning. Or the first internet we got, watch the boobs appear 1 pixel row at a time. And now I am typing this out on a phone which probably has more power than a spaceship from that era!
For software developers, it's a mixed blessing.

One one hand, you can make something much cooler much faster now.

On the other, the competition is insane and the speed at which technology moves is hallucinating.

Here, highly competent developers have to struggle to find a good job. I don't envy developers who are not passionate and committed enough to aggressively keep up to date.

[sighs] Really? No one else? Fine, make me break character...[grumble grumble]...
He meant to type "[they] don't know they're born", which seems to be an almost exclusively British phrase (not sure if it's used in Ireland). I've heard it before, but not often, and I've always been left to guess the meaning from the context; some of the responses in this very old (but still relevant) thread seem to answer that question well enough.

Thank you!

I have never ever heard that expression before, despite the fact that I've read almost exclusively in English for the past 25 years, and consume an awful lot of British (as well as other English language) media. I was convinced the word "born" in the title was also a typo, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was supposed to say. The phrase as it was seemed completely meaningless. I mean, not knowing you're born? You think the stork brought you? What the hell?

Idiom is always the hardest part of any language, because it often has very little connection to the actual meaning of it. You just "have to know".
