Timboli: The size he mentions (70 Mb) has nothing to do with HDD size. It is about how much is being used up in RAM when the program runs ... when the program loads into memory.

And that is why Galaxy runs so bad for many of us.

Remembering, that it isn't the only thing running in memory.
It's still around 200 or so MB(iirc) for galaxy.....most people have at least 2GB of memory and those who want to save RAM usually use less bloated OSs so they don't use as much of the RAM, leaving more for other programs/games/etc.

Timboli: Like he said, for Galaxy anyway, unnecessary bloatware. Downloading or browsing to get a game should not be so demanding. Like I have said elsewhere, poor decisions over design and coding.

Visual has trumped practical. Just like DRM with most games has trumped practical playing and archiving etc considerations.
I agree somewhat on stuff being bloated nowdays more than before, but I think some(not all) are making more of that issue(memory footprint) than needs to be made.

But again, if others disagree that is fine....we can agree to disagree.

Not really a case of that.

If you have issues, and I do, then opinions don't count, only facts.

There is something seriously wrong with the way things are coded both in Galaxy and here in the GOG web pages.

The last month or so, I have had serious issues when trying to pay via PayPal here. Fifty percent of the time, I am having to restart my browser, for the second half of the process to complete. That is bad, very bad .... memory leak or too much usage or something. Doesn't occur for me elsewhere, just at GOG.

Then you should've mentioned that before....doing so now somewhat makes it seem like you're trying to shift the goalposts.

What and tell you how a PC works and all that jazz? Do your own research. But to give you a clue, Galaxy would not be the only process running. Size of usage in RAM also matters when it comes to access and speed, no matter the remaining RAM. A smart program never uses too much, only as much as it really needs to, because it takes time and we have sharing and bottlenecks ... though more easily dealt with on modern PCs. Still good coding practices are just as relevant now as ever, but sadly too many coders rely on the brute force method of overcoming issues ... issues that used to be avoided by good programmers.

Cheap managers are the best. They are always so sure of their abilities to minimize short time costs and ruining the company in a year or two. Wonder why they are still being hired , but then I remember it is HR, probably the worst part of every company.

Well i understand that they want push people to galaxy, but this is wrong way to do it, they already "hided" gog downloader links in multiple clicks and not promoted it (so many people even don't know about it)

They want great reward- be rich like steam, but if they want beat steam they need to do better and be better.

Like you said they will loose if they go for short-therm gains, they will alienate people from GOG even more by this, what is worse, maybe GOG bosses will not realize this until is too late (because they don't see it and some cheap manager have promotion for bad decision) -because it just "sound reasonable" on paper, "just have one client" -

but that downloader was exactly what lot of users want, just download and manage library - no store, no chat client, achievemnt bullshit (that all can be separated and optional!!!).

We have no choice of THIN client , just current Galaxy Bloatware big client,

or we have, but they will not like it - stop helping them and stop buying here and let DRMFREE dream die :(

Instead of killing it they should make it primary part of galaxy (lets call it GALAXY Lite - imagine just downloader and maybe library - so people don't even need to use browser)

GOG bring us GoG downloader back!
