Why am i getting g2a ads on youtube and other places?
I though that site is a shady key resellers site and is illegal, but i keep getting ads from them. Why no gog ads or something. Maybe because i mostly use gog?
Anyway to disable the g2a ad somehow X isn't enough.
Never seen G2A ad on youtube but i think the only way is to pay through subscription to avoid it but since giving money to Youtube is not something i ever would do then ADblock is the way to go imo.
Well currently not using adblock since some sites require to disable adblock to see them.

You can use noscript to disable site script which requires you to disable adblock.

And yes, g2a IS a shady website. Maybe not the site per se, but a lot of its sellers are.

Sites that block the use of ad-blockers. Never heard of such a thing, but I'm not surprised to hear they exist.

I've never used an ad-blocker, as none of the sites I visit are particularity nagging.

Not exactly :)))). I said I never heard of it, as in I never noticed it being mentioned in any of the forums I frequent, until now. It was just a TIL observation.

I tend to boycott sites that try to force me to disable adblockers. If they can't be bothered to make non-intrusive ads, I can't be bothered to use their site.

Is a good point. Between nagging adverts and the we need to store advertising cookies on your machine do you accept boxes the web is becoming unusable. most of the time now if I get that when I goto a site I will just close the site straight up, even bigger ones like youlube and things I tend to avoid.
If you're watching video game related content, at this point or recently, there's your answer. G2A thrived from the influencer scene. It's worth remembering some of the biggest video game youtubers heled G2A sponsorships From PewDiePie to the big Fiffa youtubers.
Sadly my impression is that the majority of ads are either outright malware distributors or advertise illegal/borderline businesses.

Not having NoScript and/or uBlock Origin installed is asking for trouble and that includes those on OSX and Linux too and no need to go to shady websites either as even 100% legal businesses seem to accept a lot of ads blindly, just filtered for no ads for this and that, thank you.

Exactly my sentiment. Between pop-ups, animated ads that take forever to load, everything is a link - no empty space to click into the browser tap, an overlaying field that prevents you from clicking anything before you open an ad in a new window and everything can be laced with malware and worse, adblockers are the only way. Ever since I started using one, the amount of viruses, trojans and the likes have been non-existent on my system.

That really doesn't suprised me at all. Whenever I see YouTube videos with commentators I always ask, how can these people make a living, they are barely coherent. Now a revelation that crime networks are funding this really fixes that equation.

To be fair, a lot of the those who accepted the sponsors tended to be young and entering longterm deals. It's worth remembering we are talking about the early days of G2A, and indeed the early days of the big boom in youtube as a viable source of income. Most of the well known creators dropped G2A when their deals were over.

They sill have quite a hold in the mid-level channels and streams though, but most of the creator's don't really come off as all that knowledgeable on video games beyond the popular titles earning the E-bucks :P
