Sakura Season begins on GOG.com with games up to 75% off!

Welcome to Japan! It's a quite enchanting, slightly bizarre, and totally fascinating place - plus it's absolutely beautiful during the cherry blossom season! We've found a pretty convenient way to get spirited away there and take you with us: through the magic of videogames. Everything in this Kawaii Sale has been touched or inspired by those unique Japanese sensibilities we've grown to love and is up to 75% off.

It's not just the extravagant haircuts, expressive eyes, or colorful creatures - there's something timeless about these games that always makes us feel young at heart.
Grandia II Anniversary Edition is a prime example of an archetypical jRPG whose charms never fade. When Gaming Nexus reviewed the game, they concluded that "this updated re-release is a testament to how much fun a well-crafted turn-based role-playing game can be."

Less epic, but definitely not less memorable, Hatoful Boyfriend made IGN admit that "it has a strange premise and though it embraces that weirdness fully, it is able to surpass the label of silly dating sim by presenting interesting themes and characters through strong writing".

Are you a fan of narrative-driven, turn-based fantasy? Then you'll love The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky! RPGFan described it as "a slow-paced but charismatic RPG with an incredibly well-crafted world and characters".

As always, there's more – including up to 75% off Corpse Party, Way of the Samurai 4, and Xanadu Next. Plus, stay tuned for new games and deals this Friday!

The Kawaii Sale will last until February 27, 5PM UTC.

phaolo: Those LoH: Trails in the Sky games have quite good ratings everywhere :O
And quite deserved. Awesome story.
I can definitely recommend Way of the Samurai 4 from personal experience with the game :D
Would it be possible to stop allowing DLC for a game on sale appearing as a separate item?

I think it's inapropriate added publicity for games laden with DLC.

Couldn't it at least appear smaller and indented? Or as a group, like on steam?

Painted_Doll: Awesome promo . Will grab Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom and SWAT 4: Gold Edition .
Uh, hell and I clicked on it, to see if these games are really discounted :D

The_Gypsy: Discounts have been on the poor side since they changed up the weekly/weekend sales. This stuff almost never gets a good discount. The prices on Agarest are comical though.

joppo: I'm pretty sure it's impossible to both have awesome discounts all the time and have us GOG members always happy at the prices.

Suppose a particular game that has never had a discount higher than 60% goes 70% off one day. People will rejoice, celebrate, buy at their heart's content, fill the forums with thanks... and that's it. But now GOG set a precedent.

From then on, whenever the game goes any lower than 70% off rage ensues, even it was ok at 60% off a few months earlier.
If it goes 70% off a second time it'll have a moderate warm reception, but in a third time you'll see "yawn"s and "meh"s all over the place. When will it stop? Why when it goes 80% off of course! Which is when the cycle starts anew.

So I feel like they're setting "moderate" discounts now, lest when a big promo hits the forums will be flooded with disappointed posts stating how games have the same prices they had during smaller earlier promos.
I don't mind variance in sales so long as a considerably better one doesn't immediately follow. System Shock going from $3 to $1.50 a day later, for example, was bothersome.

With the way sales have been going it's looking like I'll end up buying half as many games as I did in the same span last year. If I account for gift purchases it'd be an even larger gap.

I understand why GOG would want to gate complaints and add more impact to major sales though.

Edit: None of this is to say I'll quit using GOG. Only that I've felt a little disappointed.

Spy_Gentleman: Uguuuuu~~~!

GOG-san, this is a wonderful sale!

Hope my senpai noticed it.
As expected from GOG-san, such a bold move!

...Is what I'd like to say, but... the truth is, you're a hundred years too early for this sale!

Gao!
This game exists, too: https://www.gog.com/game/unholy_heights

While not fantastic, it's fine in its own way. Seems to fit the theme, GOG.
I shall call thee "SuperMega Tales of Noooope XX-2 Ω^^ Sale".
Will definitely be biting on the Ys titles though I wish Nihon Falcom would've kept it 2D. I would've even donated to KS's for all the aforementioned Ys games like Napishtim, Felgana and others to cover the development costs of having them hand-drawn.
I would buy the Heroes games but having dub only is a dealbreaker for me.

Oh and regarding the previous sale to GOG staff, could you please not have titles number up $6.66? I would've bought "Shadowrun: Hong Kong Extended" if it was $6.65 or $6.67 instead.

p.s. I find myself shopping GOG for sales more and more with the MEDIOCRITY of PSN and XBL sales, especially on PSN's flash sales of late. Ugh. Those two services should take a hint from you. Oh and if I find out a game is on PC 99% of the time I'll buy it there as I don't want to deal with any BC shafting down the road.

Well this is definitely one sale where there is nothing for me. Hopping for some new interesting releases this week.

Good thinking. With every purchase for 6.66$ we come one step closer to summoning TEH DISCOUNT BEAST (Whore of Babylon sold separately).
genki!

I love that Grandia II is exactly 10 euros, not 9.99.
