I've been thinking about those two games Bethesda's working on, and I thought it would be super neat if one of them was a sorta pulpy, jungle set game. Think like, exploring Skull Island. Cutting through dense jungle, fighting weird creatures, giant apes, dinosaurs, and finding strange, ancient and vine-choked cities.

But then I thought, why wait and be disappointed when neither game turns out to be anything interesting? What about games that do that setting now? However, I can only think of three, one of which is a mod.

There's the King Kong game based on the 2005 movie. I've heard it's pretty good, actually, there were two PC releases, one based on the PS2 version and one based on the 360 version. It would make a welcome addition to GOG, if Ubisoft ever decided to release more games here and the whole 'based on a movie' thing got resolved.

There's Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire, which along with Martian Dreams I want to like based on the setting and all that, but I find that the... let's say classic controls and UI and all that very hard to grasp.

And finally, there's that jungle mod for Skyrim. It looks really nice, replaces various monster models to more appropriate creatures for the climate and even changes the saturation levels to make it feel warmer than vanilla.

Do any of you know of any others?

Edit: Oh, right, Turok! I've even been playing it lately, no idea how it slipped my mind.

Bermuda Syndrome perhaps?
First thing I thought of :)

Seriously though, I thought that Vietcong had an incredible atmosphere. Some levels really had me feeling like I was hopelessly lost deep in a jungle.

Tomb Raider 3's Pacific Island levels also work pretty well at having you believe you're in a dangerous jungle, with cannibals and dinosaurs even

Jungle Strike has jungle in the name.
And Vietcong made me remember Seal Team.
Jill of the Jungle? :P
All games based on Vietnam War (Vietcong, Men of Valor Vietnam, Battlefield Vietnam, Shellshock 1 & 2...), Far Cry 1 & 3, Crysis, Venom : Codename Outbreak. Also, Soldier of Fortune 2 for its Colombian jungle.

I have never heard of Bermuda Syndrome before, but it, Tomb Raider (another obvious one I should have brought to mind) and Jill of the Jungle are more the style I'm thinking of. And Duck Tales I suppose. :p

Euhmmm... possibleh :P I saw the film very long ago, and young me thought it was really cool. Not that I haven't had nostalgia ruined by seeing a film again in later years. Most recently, The Great Train Robbery
Isn't Far Cry 1 set in the jungle? At least heavy forest areas on tropical islands. Also I'm pretty sure that any of the Uncharted games are set in jungles at some point.
sooo if you have ps2 maybe you can check out Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eaterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D
sooo an idea come to my head when i think about MGS try Sniper: Ghost Warrior games :D
Uncharted, anyone?
