tinyE: and the black magic thing. XD You know, I've noticed a sharp increase in the amount of 12 year olds joining Satanic Cults since those books came out, so you might be onto something. :P
avatar
Pherim: Well, I was about 12 when the first book came out, so... AVADA KEDAVRA!
PUT THE GOATS BLOOD DOWN!

WALK AWAY FROM THE PENTAGRAM!
avatar
GR00T: Why is it embarrassing?

morolf: People will regard you as an immature loser. I know it's not popular to say this here, but gaming is still heavily stigmatized.
Incidentally, I once sat at a table in a nightclub and played Bravely Default on my 3DS. Three guys came up and tried to hit on me. It was quite funny, one of the guys was like "is it like Pokémon?"

Are you a woman? Well, unless you're totally ugly or older than 30, men would hit on you anyway, they may even find it cute.
But adult men who play video games are generally considered to be immature losers by society.

morolf: which might get them interested in black magic.
I think you've overplayed your hand there, now it's just obvious you're trolling.

Ok, the black magic stuff was trolling.
I still think Harry Potter is low-quality though.

You already admitted to not having read any of them, try again!

I watched some of the movies for a few minutes on tv and read about the plot of the novels on Wikipedia.

Oh, my sincere apologies! Your opinion is of course highly qualified then.
If this thread ends up needing to be closed I think we can call the forum officially doomed.

I made a silly little mention of pop culture fantasy icon and a fight is breaking out. I'm beginning to think the same thing would happen if I'd started a thread to wish happy birthday to Mr Rodgers or Bob Ross. :P

Not anyone I give a crap about, so I don't let it bother me. I'm 54 years old and have no trouble telling anyone that I play video games, read sci-fi and fantasy, or watch sci-fi/fantasy movies and shows. If you live your life worried about what other people think about your interests and hobbies, you're only going to be miserable.

Nah, this isn't a fight. I'm just helping morolf make fun of himself.

You can't expect that everybody stays calm about a controversial subject like Harry Potter. It's just a very divisive, explosive issue about which many people feel very strongly and which has destroyed many families, made former best friends into mortal enemies, set fathers against their sons etc.

Okay, now you're getting into the spirit of things!
I´m pretty sure morolf isn´t serious about this. I´m from Germany too, and I can assure you, that it is absolutely no problem to read / watch Harry Potter or play games. I see hundreds of people every day playing games on their smart phones or reading fantasy books in the underground.

Well, that reminds me of something...
