Do we get the MS-DOS versions of the Saboteur games as well? I initially played them on a ZX Spectrum, but if these versions have insane requirements as described in the gamecards, I'd rather pass...

Maxvorstadt: From reading the gamepages, I think so.
To me it seems we get a single version that can emulate multiple "modes". I'd also appreciate some clarity into how this is handled.

Yeah, to me the description reads like it's some kind of frankeinstein remake/remaster similar to the Gods one released on Steam a few years ago, basically letting you mix and match between graphics and music from different versions of the game, but not the individual releases available to play as they originally were.

EDIT: See Doc0075's reply on page 2, apparently you get both the C64 and Spectrum versions of the game to choose from.

Damn, sad to hear that... oh well, perhaps someday publishers will learn to just digitally resell the original versions rather than remake/remaster. Some of us actually enjoy playing old games on appropriately aged hardware...

Well, I'm not certain, I haven't bought it yet and have been trying to get clarifications from GOG, the publisher or anybody who has purchased the game, that's just how the very vague store page reads to me.

Dogmaus: ...
Many of these on sale, I find them over-priced, and backlog and all, but I might use the occasion to try out The I of the Dragon.
avatar
Lodium: I seam to recall that you coud change difficulty and the harder ones provided a more challange
but its a long time since i played it so my memory migth be fuzzy there
yes and there is a time speed regulating feature, and one can pause and give orders to the dragons while pausing. It is known to have weird controls but I can hopefully make up for it assign keys to my extra mouse buttons - if it will recognize them!
I loved First Samurai on the Amiga. Not sure I want to play an emulated inferior version without my trusted but already deceased Competition Pro stick...
I hope Ziggurat will release more arcade games. I'll buy them all.
high rated

Maxvorstadt: Oh my GOG, and they even have the Schneider CPC version of Saboteur 2, a game I never played, but my dad had a Schneider CPC 464, and the games I played on it had far superior graphics, compared to the C-64.
avatar
fisk0: Oh, so do you get multiple versions of the game for various platforms when you buy it? The store page is really vague about how the Saboteur games are handled.
Just played Saboteur and you get to choose between the Spectrum and C64 versions of the game from the menu.
Still a fun game today, even though the dogs are a pain in the arse.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't suppose you get the MS-DOS version as a bonus or anything, right? I mean as a separate downloadable bonus, GOG style.

Night Slashers looked really cool until I looked into the game and found out that this version is a censored version. That annihilates all of my interest in it, which was very high until I found out it's been censored.

Not sure why Ziggurat would release a censored version of Night Slashers after they just finished uncensoring BloodRayne the other month.
Awesome releases

I think the blood color is tied to the language selection in the original arcade version, so the text would have been japanese if the used the red-blooded rom.

Thanks for the insight.

But even if that is 100% true, surely the devs at Ziggurat have the technical skills to correct that problem, don't they?

And I also heard that the Nintendo Switch version is uncensored. So why do they get the good uncut version and PC customers don't?

In my opinion they shouldn't create a rom-hack Frankenstein monster of versions but simply include both versions and let the user chose which one they want to play. A similar problem exists with the game "Renegade" for the PS4, which only includes the american version of the game which is designed after the "Warriors" movie, while the Switch version includes both the original school setting one as well as the american one.
