Strijkbout: Can't say I'm excited by anything Star Wars anymore, but let's wait and see what they're coming up with.
Yeah, let's wait and see. I really hope he does not ruin his legacy this time.

Falci: The thing with John Carmack is that he is first and foremost a technology guy, not a game guy. So now that he's rich and bored, he'll go wherever his interests are held. Can't blame him there, I'd totally do the same.

Whatever Romero and Adrian end up creating, I hope it is more arcadey fun than script/story intense. One of Doom's strengths was its natural arcadiness, where you could jump in, play a couple of hours and get out, no strings attached.

Strijkbout: Funny enough the lack of story in Doom was in large part John Carmacks contribution.
I'm aware of that. I didn't mean to say that all he ever did was only tech, my point was that tech is what holds his interest first and foremost.
I'm sorry but John Romero has just lost his mojo with no hope of a big return.

It's over for him.
would holy water and a silver bullet stop his return?

Too late. :D

Nah, Romero made too many people his bitch. It's a proven fact that Daikatana is the greatest FPS game ever.
Well I'm intrigued to say the least.
Let me guess, you get to shoot at things in it. Revolutionary.

Wait, with a different type of gun this time?

How bout anti-gravity shooting at things? Darn, nope.
Awesome! It's always nice to witness the return of old masters.
I don't expect anything revolutionary but I'm still hyped.

Well, I've received their newsletter #1. And:

"First off, thank you so much for your support and encouragement as we return to our FPS roots. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming with thousands of comments on Twitter, YouTube, email and Facebook."

Sounds interesting.

Falci: Am I wrong to want to see these guys revisit the Daikatana concept?

I hope they get Tom Hall and Brenda Romero in as well. The four of them should come up with some good amount of fun. :)

Anyway, here's hoping whatever these people put out is awesome and fun and very fast and full of joyful murder.

EDIT: A weapon to turn enemies into little bitches (as in a literal canine) would be a sweet joke. :P
No, the concept on paper is pretty dang clever and with today's tech, John could fully realize his Daikatana vision. The final game was not bad by any means, or at least one of the worst games of all time.

Great, where is mine?
Confirmed my e-mail address and nothing!
Maybe it's because I live in England.
HAPPY St. George's Day!!!

You should wait. Anyway, I think they will launch their official website on Monday. I will update OP if I find more details. :)
I'm a bit annoyed that I have to wait until 1600 hrs (GMT) for the big show (according to the website).
I know this is probably for the American audience, but come on Mr Romero, you're om GMT time now!
