What is up with Japanese gaming companies and GOG ? I can barely see any games from Bandai Namco, Square Enix, Konami, Capcom etc. It would be awesome to have some classic games here like Dino Crisis, Metal Gear etc.

They think GOG is Jamaica and we are Pirates Of The Caribbean

Their loss. It's not like infecting games with DRM is going to get me to buy them over on SCHEME. I just won't bother with their games. Thanks Square Enix,et al, for saving my wallet.
It would be good to have their games on this platform. But them sticking to DRM doesn't mean I am going to buy the DRMed copies.
There is a large catalog here on GOG, and I will keep myself busy with it.

EDIT: there have been a few releases of Japanese games on GOG, though.

I don't think it's only a problem within their gaming companies. The Japanese general entertainment industry have a very strong pro-stance for DRM. You name it, film, manga, anime etc.

The few Western companies who successfully lobbied for DRM-free japanese origin product are FAKKU and Project-H, which sold NSFW manga. Oh, I believe Jast-USA also offer DRM-free 18+ visual novel.

I can agree on this, I go to japan once every few years and I help one very specific artist/great friend with touch up work for his hentai manga for comiket. He told me they really force DRM like no tomorrow on everything due to piracy that ran in the early years of media. Anime is number one. Games is second and Hentai is slowly being enforced as well. Hentai is a very shady area right now due to it mostly being fan work of intellectual property of Anime studios, think girls und panzer series for one. Some companies allow for parody of work to be made, and don't and even care if that artists work gets pirated unless they have contracts or money is in exchange. Companies that allows wont help them at all. it's very interesting indeed.

I wouldn't be surprised if most people in Japan's gaming industry didn't know GOG exists at all. Steam had very little support from Japanese companies too, until they started investing in events and workshops in Japan (Gabe Newell went there in person on some of these events) to get Japanese companies into Steam.
Do you see a lot of AAA releases from Western companies here?

Yes, older games.
Just because you're mostly interested in relatively new AAA releases doesn't mean that older games weren't AAA releases.

Exactly. And Square Enix especially has only unloaded games on GOG that were acquired in takeovers, and are more than a dozen years old. They don't even release their ripoff Final Fantasy mobile ports here, that's how massive their DRM fetish is.

Go fuck yourself.
yeah but they don't make good decisions every time. look at how awful some of their remaster releases from the past few years are. little more than cynical cash grabs.

it would be really fucking cool to have 30th Anniversary Collection come here. but again, all those games, and I think it's just going to be a straight arcade emulation thing with some hacks to to create some extra modes where possible. no training mode sucks. still, it's such a large collection that it would fucking cool to have it here.
@Starfucker
What's your problem? There are plenty of EA/Ubisoft/Bethesda/Etc. games on GOG. They're not new, so that must be what you're referring to.

Why am I replying anyway...go wash your keyboard with soap!
