I've seen a few recently.
"Unfriended" (2015): C+
Was expecting this to be super dumb, and was surprisingly surprised. While it wasn't scary (and had some unintentional comedy at times when it tried to), it was filmed in an interesting way (though I totally understand why people might not like it, until I got into the movie it was at times annoying), the acting wasn't bad, and I cared just enough about the characters to give an F when they were in jeopardy. Not a glowing review (because I didn't love it), but nowhere near as bad as I was told.
"It Follows" (2015): B
On the opposite side, a movie that was hyped to me like the second coming, and sadly couldn't live up entirely. Very original and cool idea, and I loved the main character for the most part, but was not particularly scary (though a little creepy at times), and I disliked some of the supporting cast. But again, not a bad movie, just not AS good as everyone said (to me).
"John Dies At The End" (2012) : A-
Yes, it's missing stuff from the book, but damn I had a blast watching this. Definitely recommend, ESPECIALLY if you've never read, or heard of, the book, as you can enjoy all the craziness without fretting over what was cut/changed.
