Anyway, about the topic, I've never played Wow because that monthly fee was damn expensive. :\
I also still miss a ton of games due to money, DRM, time, etc..

tinyE: I get shit for this but I thought Timothy Dalton was a great Bond.
avatar
Wishbone: I agree. The Living Daylights is my favourite Bond movie. License To Kill was awful, but not because of Timothy Dalton, it was just a shitty script.
License to Kill is my second favourite Bond after Casino Royal :P The Living Daylights is just ok. Has a great song though. Way better than either License of Casino.

I tried Game of Thrones, and it sucks

and Breaking Bad sucks

and Arrested Development sucks

and Harry Potter sucks

and the new BattleStar Gallactica sucks

and Orange is the New Black sucks

and I fucking can't stand Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah cover

ummmm

and The Witcher and Skyrim and Fallout 4 suck

and ummm.....

you all love me now?
The Witcher is probably my favourite RPG ever, but I'm willing to forgive you, since it's always nice to see someone else who realises that the new Battlestar Galactica is a piece of shit. As is Game of Thrones.

I've never seen a single episode of Breaking Bad. The premise just doesn't interest me in the slightest. The same goes for Dexter, Orange is the New Black and a lot of other super-popular shows. Maybe some of them are actually good. I just don't care. I've got plenty of stuff to watch that I actually do care about, so I'm not going to watch something just because it's very popular.

Oh, and after watching the first couple of episodes I thought Mad Men was boring as fuck.

FTFY.
Oh yeah, I forgot, I've never owned a cell phone.

neurasthenya: ....
Could it be age related, ie. those movies and series are mostly "before your time", even if there have been some new movies in the series lately too? Those movies' heydays were in the late 70s and 80s (even 60s for the 007 movies), I guess. So if you were born in late 90s or something, I am not necessarily suprised you haven't seen much of them. Not having seen the latest movies of them isn't that unthinkable either, e.g. I haven't seen the latest Star Wars movies either yet (I've seen the first six episodes though).

This dawned to me when a 19 year old relative (girl) saw a glimpse of the Commando movie on TV, and she had no idea who Arnold Schwarzenegger is/was, so I guess she hasn't seen much of his movies then. She was just commenting on how big he (Arnold) was in that movie, as it was the first time she saw him.

Oh, I haven't played World of Warcraft, even though I have played pretty much all the other Warcraft games, and even liked them. Imagine that!

neurasthenya: So, Goglins, what thing of "cultural importance" you couldn't be arsed to experience or like for whatever reason? And that when you talk about it makes people go crazy over it? How do you feel when you tell people about it?
Oh, about this question specifically...

Sports events. Especially soccer/football. I just seriously can't get excited watching them usually. Like when the Euro Cup or whatever matches were going on earlier this year, I was somewhere where I met people I hadn't seen before, someone strikes a conversation "So what do you think about the football matches, did you watch it yesterday?".

I was saved by a bell when another guy just said "Sorry I don't watch them, I couldn't care less.". I would have wanted to say the same but fortunately he said it, and very bluntly. So that was the end of that conversation, next we talked about the Finnish weather I guess.

It was like that case when someone in a bar asked me many years ago "So which country do you support?" when there was some England-Italy football match ongoing on the TV, and to me the question was as odd as if I was asked which I like more, snails or frogs. Who cares, and why would I have a favorite of two foreign countries playing?!?

I admit it may be partly because Finland is not known as a great soccer country, but then that doesn't seem to stop many Finns from being very religious of watching (foreign) soccer matches. Even in sports where Finland is doing ok (say ice hockey), my attitude is lukewarm, like "Finland won the world championships in ice hockey? Nice! Hmm did I remember to buy groceries for tomorrow?".

I just seem to miss that "religious attitude towards sports events"-gene, even though especially my oldest brother seems to have it very strongly, he was the kind who would watch some sports event on the TV very excited and constantly shout at the TV angrily, and I was there watching him "Is he serious? Who the effing cares?".

It doesn't really seem to have anything to do with (or not) being a competitive person, because at least when I am playing e.g. Team Fortress 2 with other people, I do get a very competitive feeling and want to be the best. Same when e.g. playing soccer at school, or running 100 meters etc. I personally think it is more related to how suspectible a person is to "mass hysteria", e.g. how easily one would follow some charismatic leader (Hitler, Trump, Manson, what have you), or get all ooh and aah watching some celebrity singing in a concert. I usually feel like an outsider in mass public situations like those, having a strong "whatever..."-feeling in me.

neurasthenya: Indiana Jones movies
But. Why.

Me, I'm one of those people who don't have a cell phone. Not that anyone would call me, so there's that; it's a fairly amusing way to confuse people, at least (especially people who want to sell me a contract of some description).

Actually, I've also never seen a 007 movie. There are too many of them. I'm easily confused.

JDelekto: Maybe it depends on the genre or setting in which they've been seen before.

I wasn't a fan of Roger Moore (who apparently ties with Sean Connery in the number of films made), Daniel Craig is a bit too straight laced for my taste.

David Niven, well as a child, I remember him first as the butler in the Disney film "Candleshoe", so I'm not sure if I could go back and watch his '67 version of Bond in "Casino Royale" without having some type of bias.
I've always considered Roger Moore Bond movies to be the worse in the series. It was almost like watching a cartoon (a gondola turns into a hovercraft and ends up in a museum or something).

TRUE, with the exception of "For Your Eye's Only". Not a Moore fan, but with Topol as the arms dealer that movie rocks! :D
