It takes an amazingly incredible person to beat a FirstPerson Shooter

I don't get it at all. I set the difficulty on all of them to easy and I still die well over 40 times in each of the 7 hour game campaigns.

I LOVE the games but you got to have the testicular power and grace of cat of Behliphet's aunt. I have played Blood 1, Deus Ex, Deus Ex Invisible War and a few minutes ago I just gave up on Pariah for Xbox.

I usually like the games that let me mix shooting with minor stats and upgrades.

Obviously the games are just too hard. Has anyone had frustrating times with these games or are you going to perform the Licurg Chuckle?
I don't consider myself particularly good AT ALL, but I still manage to beat pretty much any shooter in normal. So no, I don't think they are too hard. I do find very hard to use a controller though, maybe don't play shooters on the xbox?
Usually.. not really.
I'm fairly terrible, but I've never had to go below 'normal'.
Sometimes they'll frustrate the heck out of me though.
I alternate between normal and hard on FPS games and I don't exactly feel like my reflexes were pushed to the limit.

This bug might be one reason why you're having trouble on Blood 1: https://www.gog.com/forum/blood_series/fan_blood_patch_122_fixed_incorrect_damage_scaling_when_loading_a_save/post14

But yeah, I find Blood 1 to be pretty challenging regardless of difficulty setting. What i've played of Deus Ex 1 is fairly challenging too, though I played around with some of the weapons and found that sneaking up on enemies, pepper spraying them and cracking them with a melee weapon worked for me. Can't speak for the other games as i've never played them.
The thing that is unrealistic is that if the game is set to easy, I shouldn't be dying regularly regardless of skill. My balls may not weigh 3 kilos but that has nothing to do with it. Should I perform the licurg chuckle to increase chance of success?
Replayed Bulletstorm yesterday - less than 6 hours to beat the game on the highest difficulty . Only died 4 times too.

I can't get used to the First Person perspective, no matter how many times I try it. Doen't help that I hate it as well. But perhaps you're like me and just can't get fully used to that viewpoint, which makes these games far tougher than they should be (for me, at least).
A few years ago I could shoot the wart off a space mutant’s nose at a thousand paces, but these hands are getting old. Try a can of Red Bull, it slows everything down for about half an hour before your heart explodes through the roof of your mouth.
blood's kind of ridiculous and and unfair and all over the place in difficulty and feels more like they expected you to save scum your way through (eg, it feels like every room in the game has someone hiding in a blind spot in the corner and open fire the second you walk in and you can't really get out without taking damage if you don't already know where they're at.)

I can't speak about the original two Deus Ex, but HR was super easy due to stealth/nonlethal options being utterly gamebreaking, to the point where I felt that I should have tried to play on the highest difficulty so I could get all the achievements in one run. While I can't comment on the originals as I haven't played them yet it would probably be a good idea to try to explore noncombat and espionage options instead of trying to play it like a balls to the wall military shooter.

Also I guess you could go back to the original Doom, it's actually pretty easy to play since you don't have to worry about aiming on the Z axis just fire away. I'm pretty lousy at FPS and usually play them on easy but managed just fine on the medium setting in Doom. The difficulty peaks in episode 2, outside of some rough maps early on in episode 4 in Ultimate Doom.

(maybe also give Chex Quest a shot too)

How are you playing them, using a controller? If so switch over to M&Keyboard. I have played Blood 1 and 2 all the way through and the expansions, they aren't that difficult, try painkiller - that's a great shooter, or the new Shadow Warrior or Farcry 1. And if you don't like the first person, what about Alien shooter?

Disclaimer: I have nothing against controllers, they are great for certain genre's of games, just like M&K is great for other genre's of games.
Git gud casul. I beat Serious Sam on hard without any stats or upgrades to help. you're gonna need a special ladder 2 git on my level B)

I have very tough time with first person shooters on console and even tougher on pc. I am decent at twinstick shooters but only hero siege. As for alien shooter1, 2 and zombie shooter, I cant even get past 2nd level on easy. They are way too hard.

Blood at normal is surely more difficult than for example Doom at normal.

I usually manage to beat FPS games on normal. The biggest issue I usually have is interest. I tend to grow bored of a game before completion.
Completed Serious Sam 1st, 2nd, 2. Never completed 3 it bored me.
Completed PainKiller
Completed Doom 1&2&3 as well as Duke 3D, all three Quakes with single player campaigns too
Legendary and a good couple of others.

No what I find it takes amazing incredible people to complete is RPGs. Beating an FPS takes maybe 10 hours. An RPG is easily 20 hours. And unless you spend time grinding out levels to upgrade yourself, most of them will tear you to pieces for having the audacity to go for the plotline.

Could also be a question of luck I guess. I'm currently smacking my head against Wasteland 2. 5 consecutively missed shots at 79% chance to hit, then the enemy getting two critical hits and taking down one of my rangers immediately after that is too common a circumstance for me. Maybe RPGs aren't that punishing, maybe it's just my luck. At any rate, I believe it takes an incredible person to stick with a game that long time in a stretch.
