What remains to be determined, of course, is whether he's a rapist, and I can not say with absolute certainty that he is, probably never will. I can say, however, that his accusers are painting a remarkably consistent picture of the man particularly from ten years ago.
2.And the fuzzyness doesn't stop there, as rape isn't even an internationally consistent term, as statistics may just count the cases that ended in a conviction and as the estimated number of unreported cases or false accusations may or may not be included. So I don't think this is getting us anywhere really. The situation for women stinks in either country (and let's not get into the "only the Middle East still needs feminism" bullshit, thanks). I also don't even want to begin delving into the cultural differences and some
proposed laws on the table of some other countries. I wasn't trying to make a statement of the "America is worst of all" kind, and I really didn't need to. Statistics still say refugees are less likely to commit crimes than German citizens (a statistic, of course, that includes migrants as German citizens). Martek was seizing on a singular case, and even that only as vague finger pointing, not with intent to discuss. It didn't have merit as a form of argument, and it certainly was unfit to provoke your response.
3. Two years after the war in Afghanistan started? I don't think so, really. But this is unfortunately a tangent too: It doesn't matter much what legal obligations were involved, because moral considerations should have been at the forefront anyway. And that applies in particular to the self proclaimed leaders of the free world.
4.This really is the most important point here, and I'll gladly make it again, hopefully clearer. There is a muddied historic responsibility for a whole lot of countries, with the US of A being front and center. And there is a
humanitarian obligation that basically the entire so called free world has. Germany is not making up for past misdeeds, Germany is not taking in refugees because grandpa was in the SS. Germany is taking in refugees because the only alternative is to have them die at the border. Heck, Angela Merkel is clearly scared out of her wits, she hasn't got a plan of integration, and my fellow countrywomen all too often forget that integration is a task for
everyone, integrees and integrators. Germany doesn't "want to take most refugees". It just so happens that Germany does out of the sheer lack of alternatives and, of course, its relative size and economic stability.
What numbers e.g. Austria has taken in, considering Austria's size, is a marvellous feat that I have the greatest respect for.
1. What is ''sexual predator'', for the last time? Does he hunt people down and abduct and rape them? You are assuming he has a ''misogynistic'' attitude as well. Use the word properly. He is at most prejudiced in his views that he probably thinks women don't mind what he does, but where did ''misogyny'' come from? And action are what counts. Even if you had a bug in his brain watching his thoughts, he hasn't done anything to make him a ''misogynistic sexual predator''. He talks of groping women, and that is not rape. So what is it with all the assumptions and fear mongering? Thoughts aren't words and words aren't deeds, yet you can't seem to distinguish the first two from the last.
2. Yeah rape is legally slightly different across different countries. But even if we're compensating for inaccuracies in statistics, we won't come to any useful conclusion by assuming ''it stinks in either country''. You have no idea how harmful that kind of dumb interpretation of a statistic is. Before any government can act on something, they must know
PRECISELY what they're acting on, and just assuming its ''bad'' will just divert un-needed resources from other important fields. It also reminds me of of a recent situation in my home state where the media and politicians took advantage of lack of statistical information about rape and ran with it, effectively trying to create propaganda.
A girl living alone was raped and murdered by a migrant worker from a northeastern state, and suddenly the media and opposition parties declared that there was a women's safety issue in the state, that ''women aren't safe under this government''. Its absolute retarded drivel and because it blew up the way it did, the ruling government was forced to address this ''issue'' several times and answer about the investigation. Basically, the kind of assumption you made was used to waste valuable time and money because such assumptions neither contribute to the knowledge of fighting the problem nor describe clearly the situation.
How can a government react to a report that says ''healthcare in this place sucks''? Same with this. If we want change, we must report the problem as it is.
About the statistics, which are they? I'm not well informed about Germany to comment anyway, but I find it strange that there can be statistics that claim the exact opposite things, since they're studying the same subject. Ie I've always seen people on right wing sites comment about how they're more likely to commit crimes. So link the source if you have it.
And yes, in some countries the position of women is objectively worse than in others. And those countries do need equality (not ''feminism''). Yes, I know mine also ranks quite high on that list.
3. So abandoning NATO was an option? I'm not saying anyone is free from moral responsibility, but there are other ways reparations are paid, and don't forget that good faith was at least a factor in the post invasion period.
4. There is a moral / humanitarian obligation, but not one that is enforceable (and probably rightly so, since foreign interventions can go either way). And such an obligation should apply to all countries, not just the EU or American ones. All humans are equally morally obligated to help others. And such unenforceable obligations can only be followed to a degree, and must be remembered to be voluntary, so a people should be able to vote on it if they want.
If they are refugees though, then integration shouldn't be an issue since refugees are people who can return to their homeland after the conflicts are over. Add to that how many of them are actually refugees. People fleeing from ISIS aren't equal to people fleeing more stable countries in a quest to freeload on other people's countries goodwill.
