Vainamoinen: 1.No sir, Trump's still defo a sexual predator with deeply misogynist attitudes, unashamedly (standard evasion strategy when asked: "We can not afford political correctness"). What remains to be determined, of course, is whether he's a rapist, and I can not say with absolute certainty that he is, probably never will. I can say, however, that his accusers are painting a remarkably consistent picture of the man particularly from ten years ago.

2.And the fuzzyness doesn't stop there, as rape isn't even an internationally consistent term, as statistics may just count the cases that ended in a conviction and as the estimated number of unreported cases or false accusations may or may not be included. So I don't think this is getting us anywhere really. The situation for women stinks in either country (and let's not get into the "only the Middle East still needs feminism" bullshit, thanks). I also don't even want to begin delving into the cultural differences and some proposed laws on the table of some other countries. I wasn't trying to make a statement of the "America is worst of all" kind, and I really didn't need to. Statistics still say refugees are less likely to commit crimes than German citizens (a statistic, of course, that includes migrants as German citizens). Martek was seizing on a singular case, and even that only as vague finger pointing, not with intent to discuss. It didn't have merit as a form of argument, and it certainly was unfit to provoke your response.

3. Two years after the war in Afghanistan started? I don't think so, really. But this is unfortunately a tangent too: It doesn't matter much what legal obligations were involved, because moral considerations should have been at the forefront anyway. And that applies in particular to the self proclaimed leaders of the free world.

4.This really is the most important point here, and I'll gladly make it again, hopefully clearer. There is a muddied historic responsibility for a whole lot of countries, with the US of A being front and center. And there is a humanitarian obligation that basically the entire so called free world has. Germany is not making up for past misdeeds, Germany is not taking in refugees because grandpa was in the SS. Germany is taking in refugees because the only alternative is to have them die at the border. Heck, Angela Merkel is clearly scared out of her wits, she hasn't got a plan of integration, and my fellow countrywomen all too often forget that integration is a task for everyone, integrees and integrators. Germany doesn't "want to take most refugees". It just so happens that Germany does out of the sheer lack of alternatives and, of course, its relative size and economic stability.

What numbers e.g. Austria has taken in, considering Austria's size, is a marvellous feat that I have the greatest respect for.
1. What is ''sexual predator'', for the last time? Does he hunt people down and abduct and rape them? You are assuming he has a ''misogynistic'' attitude as well. Use the word properly. He is at most prejudiced in his views that he probably thinks women don't mind what he does, but where did ''misogyny'' come from? And action are what counts. Even if you had a bug in his brain watching his thoughts, he hasn't done anything to make him a ''misogynistic sexual predator''. He talks of groping women, and that is not rape. So what is it with all the assumptions and fear mongering? Thoughts aren't words and words aren't deeds, yet you can't seem to distinguish the first two from the last.

2. Yeah rape is legally slightly different across different countries. But even if we're compensating for inaccuracies in statistics, we won't come to any useful conclusion by assuming ''it stinks in either country''. You have no idea how harmful that kind of dumb interpretation of a statistic is. Before any government can act on something, they must know PRECISELY what they're acting on, and just assuming its ''bad'' will just divert un-needed resources from other important fields. It also reminds me of of a recent situation in my home state where the media and politicians took advantage of lack of statistical information about rape and ran with it, effectively trying to create propaganda.
A girl living alone was raped and murdered by a migrant worker from a northeastern state, and suddenly the media and opposition parties declared that there was a women's safety issue in the state, that ''women aren't safe under this government''. Its absolute retarded drivel and because it blew up the way it did, the ruling government was forced to address this ''issue'' several times and answer about the investigation. Basically, the kind of assumption you made was used to waste valuable time and money because such assumptions neither contribute to the knowledge of fighting the problem nor describe clearly the situation.
How can a government react to a report that says ''healthcare in this place sucks''? Same with this. If we want change, we must report the problem as it is.

About the statistics, which are they? I'm not well informed about Germany to comment anyway, but I find it strange that there can be statistics that claim the exact opposite things, since they're studying the same subject. Ie I've always seen people on right wing sites comment about how they're more likely to commit crimes. So link the source if you have it.

And yes, in some countries the position of women is objectively worse than in others. And those countries do need equality (not ''feminism''). Yes, I know mine also ranks quite high on that list.

3. So abandoning NATO was an option? I'm not saying anyone is free from moral responsibility, but there are other ways reparations are paid, and don't forget that good faith was at least a factor in the post invasion period.

4. There is a moral / humanitarian obligation, but not one that is enforceable (and probably rightly so, since foreign interventions can go either way). And such an obligation should apply to all countries, not just the EU or American ones. All humans are equally morally obligated to help others. And such unenforceable obligations can only be followed to a degree, and must be remembered to be voluntary, so a people should be able to vote on it if they want.
If they are refugees though, then integration shouldn't be an issue since refugees are people who can return to their homeland after the conflicts are over. Add to that how many of them are actually refugees. People fleeing from ISIS aren't equal to people fleeing more stable countries in a quest to freeload on other people's countries goodwill.

Vainamoinen: The conspiracy nuts are the bad apples already. Sure, some just sit at home and keep their rotten apple stink to themselves. Others feel the need to unload their extremism into internet forums. And others take a gun and matters into their own hands, but to my knowledge, only in the US of A.
Err, I know it's 5 years old, but did you forget Anders Breivik, aka "that norvegian batshit crazy murderous asshole"? And that happened in Norway, which is pretty much the definition of a peaceful and liberal country. The US don't have the monopoly of violent paranoid loonies...
avatar
Martek: Sorry but that equals "Muslim", NOT "white supremacist". And CNN's saying that the " .. attacker was a mentally troubled individual" is an oft-used "code-phrase" for what the truth they don't want to actually say, "Islamic radical terrorist".
It appears you are thoroughly misinformed. The attacker of Iranian descent ("Iranian" literally means "Aryan") shot only darker skinned people and therewith killed mostly people of the Muslim faith. He considered himself German, and German only, we have that on video because he screamed it during the shooting spree, as well as his professed hatred for "foreigners". Two months prior to the shooting, Ali Sonboly had his name officially changed to David.

You're absolutely right (and in fact, the white supremacist Munich shooter chose the anniversary of Breivik's attack to launch his own). My quote above, of course, went into a different argumentative direction – what I'm hearing from the sealioning folks up there basically is "Come on, why should one bad apple soil the reputation of all those decent and inquisitive men who think that Hillary Clinton operates a child sex ring out of a pizza restaurant?".

Yeah someone actually did say what you said, verbatim. Because the only people who form ''nazist enemy concepts'' and equate a bad person with a group are the evil alt-right ctrl+shifts.

I'll gladly repeat: Alex Jones fans are in a sense victims, but just like nazis they're victims of nazi propaganda. There is no difference in the form of the argument as presented by Jones or people with an 88 tattooed on their forearm, and there's no difference in the effect that such propaganda has on others. People are responsible for what breeds in this intellectual vaccum, because it's incitement to hatred.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: Does he hunt people down and abduct and rape them?
Abusive behaviour can be predatory as well, as you should know; and words are actions as well. Speech Acts, we e.g. call them, following Austin and Searle.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: You are assuming he has a ''misogynistic'' attitude as well.
Not sure why you still need proof for what is as evident as the morning sun, but here's a primer.

You're always talking about legislation. We have legislation, and it's sufficient legislation in most countries (with the ever elusive online legal sphere as an exception). Sexual violence will not be diminished with legislation, it will be diminished when men actually start treating women as equal (not trying to throw this in your face, but of course the death penalty for rapists doesn't help jack shit). We're working towards a cognitive change – one that Trump has set back 60 years in a snap – not a legal one.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: I've always seen people on right wing sites comment about how they're more likely to commit crimes.
Valuable sources, dude. Valuable sources. Can you keep away from these sites, please? :(

I can give you some links, but they wouldn't be much use to you I guess.

In short: LKA reports crime in Germany is up, the percentage of non-German culprits rises proportionally to the increased percentage of non-Germans in the country, hence refugees aren't disproportionally criminal.

331 women were killed by their partners in Germany in 2015 (before you squeal: and 84 men). Same percentages. Who is talking about those women now? No one. Because refugees.

Sorry, but this is right-wing propaganda of the worst kind. Most refugees come over here from Syria, which is a war zone through and through; we also have a law in place that denies asylum from people from so called "secure" or "safe states". Among those: Bosnia, Kosovo, and Serbia. I'll not have the lower one digit percentage of people coming from those countries branded "freeloaders" by default. Refugees driven by unimaginable poverty are refugees as well. And America is full to the brim of descendants of these kinds of 'freeloaders'.

1. What constitutes incitement to hatred is not something that can be trivially decided. If incitement to hatred is to be used as an endpoint to where freedom of expression ends, then it must have a rock solid definition either in words (impossible, since ''incitement'' is very human- dependent) or a precedent (ie a case where the facts and events of the words in question are close to those of a case where it was ruled that it was ''incitement''). It is definetly not something we can decide on. In most cases, speculation of facts is not incitement. Incitement itself requires direct encouragement.
And wtf is ''sealioning''? Sounds like another newsspeak buzzword.

2. Ugh do you not understand what I said in my very first reply? The term sexual predator is used to refer to pedophiles or nonpedos who kidnap or abduct and rape kids / people. I'm not asking you what a sexual predator can be expected to do, I'm saying there is already a normal (fairly accepted AFAIK) definition of it and you're using it wrong.

3. So is there proof that he believes women are inferior to men? Being a pervert or being prejudiced is different.

4. So you're saying a change in the minds of the people is what needs to take place? And you think all these bad things keep happening to women because they're not treated equally by men? Do you realize that this theory is based on what you perceive to be the mindset of a giant population of men? Again, you're assuming beliefs here, and that is why I'm always talking about everything in a legal sense, controlling thoughts don't work, nor will you ever be able to make everyone believe in the same thing in the same way.

5. I read The Guardian too.

I tried google translate and it worked well. They didn't seem to link the original statistics chart though.

6. AFAIK Afghanistan was under Taliban rule and they were sheltering / giving asylum to Bin Laden and refused to turn him over.

7. Umm no, most laws are based on morality. Laws are basically enforceable morality. I think you meant that it loses a feature; ie morality is defined as a non-legally driven sense of right / wrong. But a law can also be made on that same principle of right wrong.

8. I don't have the statistics, so I'm not going to say who's a Syrian or not, but what's this about people driven by poverty? Where does that obligation come from? Have you considered how the duties countries have to others will impact the real world? Its not a solution for everyone to come to a promise-land and leave their countries under-developed villages for eternity.
avatar
Shadowstalker16: What constitutes incitement to hatred is not something that can be trivially decided.
Do you deny that the "pizzagate" conspiracy theory stokes absurd hatred against Hillary Clinton and her affiliates?
Do you deny that this was the sole reason for its creation? Could you name another sensible reason?
Do you deny that its creation was baseless and its persistence reckless?
Do you deny the very real consequences of Alex Jones' propaganda, both violent and economic ones?
Do Alex Jones' brain farts in themselves not constitute a call to action, such as e.g. propaganda activism like this thread?
If they supposedly do not, what do you think Alex Jones even does all day?
There's really nothing trivial here, but incitement to hatred it was.

Oh the legally sound sources you must have for that definition.

That is implicit to the privilege he thinks he deserves over them, what part of this do you deny?

avatar
Shadowstalker16: you think all these bad things keep happening to women because they're not treated equally by men?
"Bad things happen to women"? Passive construction, take care to not name an agent? Oh come on. We don't even need to establish causation, identity is more than enough. When these "bad things happen", women are factually not treated equally by men. Right? Right.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: Do you realize that this theory is based on what you perceive to be the mindset of a giant population of men?
You mean "what has been shown to be a prevailing mindset of a giant population of men, and what is evidently so massively accepted by people and pervading the culture that even Donald Trump could become president". And don't give me the not all men chess knight's move here. The systemic problem works very well with exceptions, and there would be no hope or reason to fight for equality if no men acted like decent human beings.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: AFAIK Afghanistan was under Taliban rule and they were sheltering / giving asylum to Bin Laden and refused to turn him over.
That was the elevator pitch, yes. Certainly a bit more convincing than the WMD one.

I wish we'd consider that basic humanitarian aid as well, but Germany certainly doesn't right now; and I wish there was no historic obligation, but then again, these are the people usually bearing the brunt of economic exploitation from countries like Germany and the USA.

1.
It misinforms people. How much hatred it induces is up the people believing in it.

So you want me to believe AJ purposely made this up? I believe he just reported on what his bogus sources told him, which is what what he always does. Why do you believe one instance of retarded reporting was done with criminal intent when the person who reported it reports nothing but similar shit?

I don't know how persistent it was. How many times did he cover it? Who else covered it?

Consequence of AJ's reporting or the shooter's believing? Was that man mentally healthy?

No, I'm talking incitement here. Not everything that makes people change their behavior is propaganda. Its like saying The Origin of Species was an incitement to blasphemy. It should also be remembered that of all the idiots who drink in his words, only one actually believed it enough to go check.

Living the easy life selling false hope medicines and trying to understand what sarcasm is.

In your opinion. If this was, what about the many instances of nonfactual reporting of Trump?

2. So no word you use needs to have a verifiable meaning other than what you made up in your head but any word I use does? Wow such intellectual honesty; using a word with heavy negative connotations to describe something much less severe in hopes of misleading people into fearing someone. AJ would be proud.

3. What exactly does he say he is owed?

4. OK sorry, rape. No other problem.

5. Shown by what? A survey of every man alive? Assumption of hatred towards women is all this is.

6. So as double sided the invasion was, it was actually just bad? Do keep in mind they have a democratic government and a welfare-like state now.

7. How did these wars make the invades exploit the invaded countries? What they did was destabilize them. I don't recall the US sending one of their guys to manage the economic affairs or Iraq or Afghanistan.

Shadowstalker16: It misinforms people.
That it does.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: How much hatred it induces is up the people believing in it.
I'm all for shifting blame to the conspiracy people, really, because they're the signal boosters, but the preachers of hate are usually sitting at the top of the communicative chain, and they are often very aware of how their followers react to their propaganda. When e.g. Breitbart writes hitpieces on private individuals, they know they're sending a mob of neo-nazis at their virtual and possibly real doorstep as well. This is a real, actual responsibility. You often make "the media" responsible for all kinds of stuff, but this would be a place to actually start.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: So you want me to believe AJ purposely made this up?
There's no need for you to believe anything, but I think that is often the case. But this doesn't mean he doesn't believe in it as well. The quasi-religious faith he puts in his own nonsense is a crucial part of his success. But do look at how he suddenly swerved to another idea when the threat of litigation beckoned.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: Who else covered it?
Lots of people covered and signal-boosted it. For example – with quite some vehemence – Michael G. Flynn, the son of Trump's National Security Advisor to be.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: Was that man mentally healthy?
I will, by default, assume any man or woman who believes Hillary Clinton operates a child sex ring out of a pizza restaurant to explicitly NOT be of sound mental health.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: It should also be remembered that of all the idiots who drink in his words, only one actually believed it enough to go check.
Slight correction: "only one believed it enough to go check armed with an assault rifle". The number of people who "checked" with handguns hidden or without armament can not be assessed properly.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: In your opinion. If this was, what about the many instances of nonfactual reporting of Trump?
This is a tangent and basically a different topic, but I'll answer anyway. There has been nonfactual reporting on Trump, and it was shit, but it was absolutely drowned in misrepresentations, blatant lies, conspiracy nonsense and fake news from the Trumpkins' side. So much in fact that my aunt in Ohio – a Democrat herself, naturally – eventually believed Hillary Clinton had announced to abolish the second amendment (and of course she never did).

avatar
Shadowstalker16: What exactly does he say he is owed?
Servitude.
“I have days where, if I come home — and I don't want to sound too much like a chauvinist, but when I come home and dinner's not ready, I go through the roof.”

Adoration.
"All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me - consciously or unconsciously. That's to be expected."

Their bodies.
“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it. I did try and fuck her. She was married. And I moved on her very heavily... I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married."

avatar
Shadowstalker16: Shown by what? A survey of every man alive?
Crime statistics, an evaluation of power structures in the workplace, linguistic analyses of everyday conversations between men and women, etc. pp.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: So as double sided the invasion was, it was actually just bad?
That's not the kind of conversation I'd like to get into. Best case scenario, we're heading in a "What did the Romans ever do for us" communicative scenario. Worst case, we're going the "Hitler did build Autobahnen after all" low road. Afghanistan has achieved a very, very fragile stability; I can't really bring myself to say the country achieved that because the US of A bombed the crap out of it.

avatar
Shadowstalker16: How did these wars make the invades exploit the invaded countries?
I wasn't talking about countries that the US waged war on, I was talking about the countries you would assume the "freeloaders" to come from. Countries that are economically exploited by richer countries. Like India. :|
