So i bought the Witcher 3 wild hunt about a week ago.
I had to start over 3 times.
(yes 3 times)
Just because i was cleaning my HDD.
Why isn't it just like Steam, just save the gamesaves on your @#$%@# account?
Why the @#% on your HDD?
Fix this pls?
There is no fix for this. Gog has no cloud service for saving games. It might come perhaps in the future when galaxy goes out of beta.
For the moment all games save their data on your HDD.

Well personally I want my saves stored locally, much the same as I want my games locally which is why I buy drm free here rather than tie myself to some rental system like steam. What kind of hdd cleaning are you doing which removes user files? Sounds like your doing something wrong.
I don't think all Steam games use cloud saves, but eventually Galaxy will probably support it.
And a long time after that it might even work.
You could use something like Gamesave Manager to link and/or automatically back-up your saves to Dropbox.

GOG Galaxy doesn't support cloud saving yet. Make your wish known to the Galaxy dev team by voting for this feature:

Not to be harsh, but... I don't think that moving your saves on a USB stick before cleaning the drive is much difficult or time consuming.

If you're savvy enough to clean your HDD you should also be savvy enough to do backups. And three times? Really? I would understand your frustration if you had lost the saved games due to something you had no control over but seriously, wiping them yourself three times and whining about it is pretty weak.

Anyway, I WOULD welcome cloud saving and assume that we will have it eventually as an option.

Because a feature like this takes time to develop. :P

I usually start over several times in rpgs, but for a different reason. I'm really indecisive when it comes to character creation. In some games it doesn't matter as much because it's fun from the beginning, like Diablo 2 where I dropped 20-something lvl barbarians several times to start over, not being able to decide between bash, concentrated attack and dual swing as a main attack. But other games are not so fun to start over, like neverwinter nights's OC which only starts to get fun from the 2nd act.
Cloud saving and DRM free don't play very nice together, since cloud saving requires an Internet connection and a user account, and is reliant on the original distributor staying in business. I suppose a hybrid system (game saved on cloud but also saved locally) could work though.

This is exactly how cloud saving works on Steam. It is optional (you can turn it on and off) and you have your savegames in the cloud and on your PC. I`m really looking forward the day GOG Galaxy offers cloud saving (optional).

Because, my dear Watson, this isn't Steam.

Well, that's another mystery solved. Have to say, not one of my more exciting adventures.

What's it with all the people on here ranting about the lack of cloud saving recently? Maybe I'm getting old and have been around long enough, but I always considered cloud saving to be the exception rather than the norm. If a game or service doesn't explicitely state that there is a cloud saving option, it's probably storing things locally. Like in olden days, long past when people used shiny disks to install games.
I never use cloud save system on Steam or Origin because I am reading a lot of complaints how peoples save games disappear from cloud. People do it on their own risk and sometime they roll 1 (critical miss).

Btw, how can someone loose save games while cleaning computer? None of the cleaner programs do that. You either deleted them manually or formatted your disk. Since you dont seem to have the knowledge of backing up your save games, I assume you dont have the technical knowledge to format or clean your computer manually which leaves only one option left. You made someone else do it for you. But a question still remains. Why 2 times? That means you had to install the WHOLE game 3 times which you are not complaining about which is even more weird.

PS. And no, i dont want GOG to be like Steam at all. I like to have full control over my games, my saves and my backups.

Hahaha. Got to be a troll, bookmarked.

Just in case you're not a troll, of course it saves on your hard drive. This is normal.

Yeah, you should really check on that. Rather strange for something to mess with your "User" folder like that.
