I haven't read the replies since my last post here, but for now I'll just address this:
Besides - a particular installer working on one computer does not mean that it will work on a different computer. I know - I was there.
Anyway, if you are really concerned/paranoid about your privacy, then Microsoft, Google and Apple are simply the companies that you should avoid and look for alternatives.
If you want to trick the system, then just use a virtual machine, install a newish Windows on it, don't activate, install VS, then disable the network, make a snapshot and revert to it when you run out of time (after saving your compiled projects to your "normal" system of course).
HeresMyAccount: But I just wanted to test it on an already online computer so that I can verify that it works before I reformat the other one. Unfortunately, I tested it on this computer and it said that the installer isn't compatible with Windows Vista - even Visual Studio 2015! Can you believe it?
Oh well, I might be able to try it on another computer, but I was really hoping to be able to verify it before I reformat the other one.
Regular support for Vista ended in 2012 (only corporate, paid security updates were available up to 2017), so it makes perfect sense for it not to work. I would actually be really surprised if it did. Oh well, I might be able to try it on another computer, but I was really hoping to be able to verify it before I reformat the other one.
