Uh... nobody's adding stuff to the wiki anymore. No new pages, nor new images. Is there a reason for that?

I used to be an admin there but I quit a while back thinking that the site would do just fine and it was time for me to move onto other things. Now... I'm not so sure.

What's going on?

Dunno. But, hi. You're the guy to contact to get added to the wiki, aren't you? Hehe. I've been wondering where you been.

Cheers.

More or less similar to that. The hashes has been taken care of by others, MaGOG has taken care of requirements and searching, PCGamingWiki has the "how to get them working" covered, and the Regional Pricing and special editions made a mess out of what game pages should be added and how.

So unless there's a bit more work done with the templates, I was also not seeing the point in adding the new games to the GOGWiki.

That may change in the future though.
What GoGWiki?

I also remember that there was a measure put in place to prevent spambots. This measure basically involved a potential member getting in touch with an admin in order to get an account. While the intent is quite understandable, most people will not bother with hunting down an admin just to add to the wiki, speaking from my own experience with this kind of thing in general :)

Oh, this reminds me of the OpenPandora-Wiki entry I wanted to make. I totally forgot what I wanted to write when I finally got the permission...

I quit being a Wiki admin a long time ago because I thought I wasn't needed anymore. I'm not even sure why I'm listed in the front page when I'm not even an admin.

*sigh* I figured.

The silence about this the forums was just... really weird. :(

I was kind of made an admin in an impromptu way. I wrote that based on info I found in the forums, although to be honest I remember checking the sysop page and I saw you then. I've removed your name from the frontpage for what it's worth...

Anyway. I still get PMs asking for accounts. I wish I could do something to enable user registration again or whatever, but Ubivis holds the cards there. So I do my bit in creating those accounts. As for everything else? I feel as though the infrastructure is done and there's not much left for me to do, personally. I still think about writing stuff on Linux play as was the reason why I wanted to be involved in the first place but I struggle for time.

The Wiki's only dead if you guys kill it, though. A Wiki is as old as its last contribution. I'd rather not think of it as dead as long as it is getting contributions.
Well, the current change removed the wiki links. So far I've not seen people noticed.
Is this the last nail in the coffin? Should we ask for those links to be brought back when many games don't even have a page?

GOG never had links to the wiki - those all came from my userscript. I'll need to spend some time this weekend fixing it up to work with the new site layout, but after that the wiki links will be back.

I think there's been a lot less enthusiasm for the Wiki since the ability for new users to sign up was removed, due to spammers. We need to add a Captcha or something and put signup functionality back (my opinion).

Oh, sorry. I guess I've been depending on BM a lot.

I think easying signing up would not hurt but that we should also focus on putting something on the wiki that's helpful.

For example:
- I was trying to update Sale history sections for a while. (And I'll continue when I have the time)
- I, personally, don't see much point on repeating the info from the official pages.
I like the wiki, but truthfully I stopped using it cause... well I was tired of updating hashes (this was the time of all the v1 installers going to v2)... though it is probably more easy to update now then it was then.

I'm waiting for Divinity Origin Sin (and the dlc) and Wasteland 2 pages to be made and hashes added.
So any updates?
There is a GOGwiki? :'D
