This may seem odd but when ToEE was new, I got it for the family PC. I don't recall if it was during uninstall, or something else, but the game bricked the hard drive.

I THINK it was one of those games where the devs were too stupid to nest the game in a sub folder, since uninstallers always delete one folder up. Since ToEE was not nested, it deleted everything on the C drive, which was one folder up.

At least, I THINK that is what happened. All I can remember now is ToEE = Bricked PC.

So I have to ask, just to be sure; is it safe? Can I play it and not risk bricking my PC now, all these years later, on GoG?

Yeah, it's perfectly fine. I've played and uninstalled it several times without any issues.

If there was an issue as serious as that with the GOG version of TOEE, you can bet the comments section will be filled with disgruntled GOGers complaining about this issue. I don't have the game but I do know if there was an issue that serious with a GOG game, people would be reporting/ talking about it in anyway they can

Thanks :) It was such a horrid experience (Imagine being 12 and responsible for bricking the family PC, which we could not afford to fix or replace because we were pretty poor) that I never touched the game since. x.x

I never heard that about this game, but Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor had a bug that erased the computer's hard drive if it was installed to the "wrong" drive.

That being said, Temple was always a flawed gem, and is only really playable thanks to the efforts of a lot of dedicated modders -- even this "vanilla" GOG version apparently has older community-sourced files to render the game more or less playable "out of the box" (though even most of the diehard fans would recommend playing with at least the Circle of Eight modpack, even on your first attempt; there's also Temple+, which adds more fixes and features that Co8 couldn't/didn't).

Circle of eight is a fan mod which fixes bugs and makes it good for modern systems, which is beamdog MO down to a tee, someone else doe the work, they profit.

Well, it isn't Temple of Doom so Mola Ram shouldn't be there (hopefully). In which case I would say yes, it is relatively safe.

I find it curious that someone would ask if a Temple of "Elemental Evil" was safe.... I mean it's called a Temple of ELEMENTAL EVIL. There's a clue there.
