Any word on that, from GOG or the game's developers? The game looks really stunning, I'd love to see it here. I'll probably suck at it too, the tough as hell fights with giant bosses look like exactly the kind of thing that kicks my ass so hard I have to sit on my head for a week but for a game this good looking and alle norse mythology-themed I'm willing to give it a shot regardless.

Have you tried contacting the developers directly? (twitter, e-mail, etc.)

I remember the devs saying they'll release a DRM-free version, but GoG wasn't mentioned. Let me find it...

Dang thank you for making this thread! My immediate thought was, "Jotun looks awesome! A great game with a female viking warrior might be just what I need to get the awful taste of the last Asterix film out of my mouth". So just be sure that 'Asterix and the Vikings' was the last Asterix film, I quickly googled it, and discovered that a brand new animated Asterix film was released based on the Mansion of the Gods!! Can't wait to see it!

Well, it's good there will (probably) be a DRM-free version... somewhere. Hope that includes GOG.

I actually thought the Vikings movie was fine, at least as far as Asterix movies go. They never measured up to the comics for me (and the live action ones were downright horrible). The Mansions of the Gods don't look appealing to me at all, with that CGI animation.

Agreed, the cgi doesn't work as well with Asterix, but at least the story and humour seems to be on point. Asterix and the Vikings was brilliantly done animation wise, but I hated how the story focused on the young kid and the viking girl, culminating in an embrace and their wedding?!?? They disney-fied an Asterix story for no good reason. It's the first Asterix film that's not about Asterix and Obelix, which annoyed the hell out of me :P

I'd love to see more Asterix films done in the style of Asterix in Britain, which I think is the closest film to the books, after Asterix and the Big Fight (which was actually Asterix and Soothsayer). Several books would make awesome films, like Asterix and the Gladiator, Asterix and the Laurel Wreath and Asterix in Switzerland. If I ever become a billionaire then that would be my first order of business: creating/buying an animation studio and negotiating for the rights to produce several Asterix films using traditional animation. Come to think of it, I'd set them to work on a Tintin television series as well!

There is something to what you're saying. I guess I didn't mind it since even though it wasn't as much about Asterix and Obelix, it still worked well as a movie, and never expected it to be like the comics anyway. Asterix in Britain is very close to the comics, but somehow I never enjoyed it quite as much as the original. I just feel like Goscinny's writing does not translate well to movies anyway, so I care more about how well they work as movies in their own right.

They seems to have mentioned intending to release a DRM-free version elsewhere though. Humble is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned, as long as it's not just a Steam key (which it currently seems to be).

Same here. I thought the art style looked really cool and was interested, but if the game is Steam-exclusive then forget it.

According to the article ZFR posted, a DRM-free version will be coming, and since the game is already on Humble (currently only as a Steam code), I'd bet that's where the DRM-free version will appear.

You are better off playing titan souls at gog.

Jotun is a tedious and boring jogging simulator. After 9-10 minutes of jogging from point a to point b you come across the bosses which are very very easy to beat. just spam attack, evade, spam attack.

The only thing good about the game is the visuals and voice acting. That is it.

Oh and female viking warrior ???? Give me a break. She carries around an axe twice her size. Lame.

If you want to play a game true to viking folklore then play rune classic on gog.
