Breja:
Awesome thanks!

CharlesGrey: The art style and setting remind me of Banner Saga, which would be nice, except it sounds like the gameplay is more like Titan Souls all over again. ( A bunch of mostly annoying boss fights, and very little other content. )

Breja: Oh, it's nothing like The Banner Saga. It's just a hack'n'slash, and yes, other than the boss fights there is virtually nothing there, at least if the few levels I've seen are any indication. I guess it's suuposed to be a "experience the journey" kind of game, where nothing happens and you don't really do anything (other than the boss fights) just soak up the mood. And maybe for some it's great. I just felt bored as soon as the first "this looks beautiful" reaction passed.
Yeah, I figured the gameplay is nothing like it. Normally I'm pretty open about genres, including minimalistic game concepts, but the aforementioned Titan Souls kind of left a sour taste, so I'm being more careful about my purchases now. I might still pick this up at some point, but it sounds more like a "wait for a deep discount" kind of deal, unless it turns out that it receives nothing but 4 and 5 star reviews.

It's also weird that it doesn't have a proper release post, even though it already showed up among the promo deals.

I think the closest comparison is with Apotheon- both are a mythology based story about a mortal who fights powerful mythical beings "out of his league" so to speak, both rely heavily on a unique visual style and the mood it evokes. The difference is Apotheon is bursting with content- skills to upgrade, various varied weapons to gather, melee and ranged combat, different kinds of attacks, improvised weapons etc. variety of enemies and bosses, levels presenting unique challenges. And a very functional map.

Jotun just has one weapon, two attacks and couple of "powers", four bosses and mostly just vast emptiness in between. And that's it. I can't tell you not to play it at all if you're interested, but I advise to only get it at a considerable discount. And to get Apotheon first, if you haven't yet.

Gilozard: That's disappointing. Have you contacted the devs about the camera? Maybe it's something they can fix.

Breja: Well, I don't even own the game myself, so I'd feel silly contacting the devs about it. But I can tell already, that it's not something they'd want to fix. It's an intentional design decision on their part. it's what's supposed to make the fights seem epic, the give everything a sense of scale. It's a feature they're proud of. And it looks great in the trailers. It just doesn't work well in the game in my opinion. But the reviews seem mostly highly positive, so maybe I just suck :D
I'd go ahead and message them anyway. It's possible they could keep the camera as is and make the main character easier to spot instead. Eg.with a glowing aura or whatever is setting-appropriate.

I own a copy of Apotheon, actually, and have it installed. Just haven't continued playing in a while now -- the usual story of too many games, not enough time. It does seem like a good game, though. It reminded me a bit of the old NES game Battle for Olympus, just prettier and more complex.

Titan Souls has the same problems as Jotun, gameplay-wise. One weapon, one attack ( two, if we're being generous ), and a mostly empty world, with nothing but a series of boss fights. It had some potential, but ultimately felt disappointing, even more so if you go into it expecting it to resemble Shadow of the Colossus or the Souls series.
