meh, looks like one of those "style over substance" games

ShadowWulfe: Lame.
Plus 1. Hadn't heard of this game, then got excited looking at the videos. However, no GOG version, why? Humble is just a Steam front, so wouldn't buy from there, but if they can do a DRM free version for them, why not GOG, or is this another typical Humble approach of calling it DRM free, but in actual fact really isn't.

Real shame as this would have been high on my wishlist.

Many people get sucked into those kind of games. Meanwhile I just finished my second run of Invisible Inc. and it's still exciting.

Breja: Any word on that, from GOG or the game's developers? The game looks really stunning, I'd love to see it here. I'll probably suck at it too, the tough as hell fights with giant bosses look like exactly the kind of thing that kicks my ass so hard I have to sit on my head for a week but for a game this good looking and alle norse mythology-themed I'm willing to give it a shot regardless.
Just so you don't miss it.
Well, since it´s confirmed that it´ll get here...this game is going to be an instabuy. :D
I since had an opportunity to try it out (my friends are not opposed to Steam like I am, I guess good for me in this case) and I was very dissapointed really. From what I've played yes, it does look fantastic, but the levels between bosses are rather boring and empty, and the bosses (I got two fight two of them) are not all that well designed gamplay wise. Mostly what I hated in the bossfights was the camera. The trick the game does to make everything look HUGE AND AWESOME is an extreme zoomout you have no control over. And when the game does that- good luck keeping track of where you are, when you suddenly become a tiny dot on the screen. One of the bosses is sorrounded by a throng of minions. When the game zooms out, it's game over. No way in fuck can you tell where you are in that mess.

So yeah, it looked really great, but I'm wiser now and won't buy it. I guess I was lucky it didn't come here earlier after all.

That's disappointing. Have you contacted the devs about the camera? Maybe it's something they can fix.

Well, I don't even own the game myself, so I'd feel silly contacting the devs about it. But I can tell already, that it's not something they'd want to fix. It's an intentional design decision on their part. it's what's supposed to make the fights seem epic, the give everything a sense of scale. It's a feature they're proud of. And it looks great in the trailers. It just doesn't work well in the game in my opinion. But the reviews seem mostly highly positive, so maybe I just suck :D
Well, it's here. :)
Looks like it is!

The art style and setting remind me of Banner Saga, which would be nice, except it sounds like the gameplay is more like Titan Souls all over again. ( A bunch of mostly annoying boss fights, and very little other content. )

Oh, it's nothing like The Banner Saga. It's just a hack'n'slash, and yes, other than the boss fights there is virtually nothing there, at least if the few levels I've seen are any indication. I guess it's suuposed to be a "experience the journey" kind of game, where nothing happens and you don't really do anything (other than the boss fights) just soak up the mood. And maybe for some it's great. I just felt bored as soon as the first "this looks beautiful" reaction passed.

Thanks for this I was coming here just now to get some details of the game! I wasn't sure if it was more puzzle / exploration or action / adventure.

Are there any "level ups" / new powers and abilities to gain? Like you I was totally sucked in by the "this is beautiful" but I'm curious if there's anything to keep driving me (I want to be prepared for when it comes up again, just in case!).

There's no leveling or skill tree, but you can find in the levels "leading up" to the bosses some shrines that give you powers, or increase the powers you have, like a special attack, or gather golden apples that extend your life meter. The downside is that the levels are big, and mostly empty, and the map is not very helpfull, as it's just a featureless contour of the level. So expect a lot of backtracking to find it all. Again, the random zoom in and zoom out camera makes searching frustrating, as sometimes you can see a huge chunk of the level around you, but other times you're in extreme zoom and can barely see what's next to you. I'm not sure how optionall those really are- you can finish the levels without finding them, but from what I've heard beating the bosses without finding at least most of the shrines and apples might no be possible at all.
