I've played
Night in the Woods (with gamepad, but I assume there isn't much difference to M+KB). I recommend it. I was reluctant to buy it for the full price or a low discount, so I waited until it cost around 12 EUR, but in hindsight I thought I wouldn't have regretted to pay full price either. It's a very well made narrative experience about growing up (in a small town), kind of an interactive graphic novel or adventure game without inventory puzzles, a bit more serious and close to RL than the cartoon animal characters might have you believe, at times emotional but also funny, and with some nice "game within a game" surprises. Rather long as well (up to 15 hours, depending on how much you explore and how fast you read). Of course, I can't say whether you would like it too, as I don't know your preferences. I guess you'd have to be open to an experience like that, most of the gameplay just involves walking around and talking to people (speech bubbles, no voiceovers).
Btw, something you can do beside reading official reviews on store pages is searching the
Games Finished in 2018,
Games Finished in 2017 etc. threads for the game titles you're interested in. They often contain user reviews only posted here in the forums, not on the store pages, e.g. here's
my own one on Night in the Woods that I posted right after playing.
