So I was thinking about buying Mount & Blade: Warbrand.
And then I saw on Kinguin its only like $2.

That's really sketchy.
Is it allowed to buy game for GOG on Kinguin?
And any opinions on this $2 deal?
As far as I`m aware, no sites have legit GOG keys, except for perhaps The Witcher series, but it is cheap as chips here anyway.
+1 to the OP for asking.

I don't think I could stand another, "I just bought these keys from G2A and now this stupid site won't let me redeem them" thread.
So I wanted to do a little bit more digging and go to the retailer's site.
So I went to gamekeyz.net and it redirected me to go google...

That's really sketchy...

if you buy gog games on kinguin or g2a, then gog staff will track down your address, storm your house/apartment/shelter/bum paper box/what ever thing you're living in with a swat team, destroy everything inside, cut off your balls and feed them to their mascot the gog bear!
It's allowed to buy keys on that site, you won't get into any trouble, but there is a chance for those keys to get revoked.

I wouldn't buy the game on a keyreseller site but directly from gog, but it's up to you what you want to do. :)

Yes, it is allowed to buy games from Kinguin just as it is allowed to buy stuff from eBay. Just keep in mind that you have no idea of telling how the key was originally purchased. So don't come complaining when it turns out that the Kinguin seller had bought the game with a stolen credit card and the key was revoked.

Which, let's face it, with a price like this is more than likely. Remember, if a deal seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Yes it's allowed to buy anything from anywhere. There is no stopping.
But real question is
Is it LEGAL to buy games from Kinguin?

Nope. Because it's not an official key reseller for anything.
Most of time keys get revoked and money is gone.
So, save yourself from trouble and buy from GOG.
Because GOG has no reseller other than GOG itself.

Yeah I was already thinking of buying it off GOG to support it.
But I thought, its a $2 deal so lets buy it.

Then I did some digging and this whole process is really sketchy.
I can't even use kinguin wallet funds...

Alright, so I just bought the keys from GOG.
Kinguin is way too sketchy.

Now just going to download them and see if they run on linux.

Thanks for all your replies, they were really helpful :-)

Is it allowed to play Russian roulette?

Personally I wouldn't do any shopping on a shady sites like kinguing/g2a..
The sellers at Kinguin are not partnered with GOG - that means they dont have any means of buying/obtaining GOG Keys on a B2B level. That also means GOG wont offer any support to you if there is problems with the obtained keys.

While the keys being offered at kinguin and alike may actually work and may have been obtained by stockpiling them by the sellers during earlier sales/promotions to get these "low prices" (this may/is actually not be "liked" by GOG and most certainly already a breach of GOG contractual terms - as gog only sells to "end users" and not other business entities) or similar there were already a lot of cases here in the forums of keys being bought from g2a/kinguin/... not working either way they may have been obtained by fraudulent methods or the seller is even knowingly selling nonworking keys and stuff like that - so ya there is a risk involved in buying this third party keys.

Short Summary:
Yes you can buy but there is a risk involved
The key may work or not
Your trade is with the trader and not GOG so GOG wont help you with issues and you have to trust the trader entirely to deliver

It should speak volumes that those sites also try to sell you "Insurance" that your game key will work...
Why do you think they need to do that?

And then think about how (or why) someone would sell the game on Kinguin for $2 when the cheapest it has ever been sold for here is $3.99? Is the seller masochistic and likes giving away $2 instead of asking GoG for a refund? Or the more likely...they bought it with a stolen credit card and are unloading it on Kinguin for some quick cash before GoG finds out and revokes the key.

That statement wasn't even true back when they made it.

As for Kinguin though, those are definitely second hand keys and should never be trusted.
Good thing I bought from GOG.
I'm having dependency errors, so I had to contact support.
..and in short, if you want to support GoG, do you shopping here ; p
