I read some post on these forums about game not being updated on time or just updating issues in general, if anyone can shed some light on this it would be great. My only reason for buying it from GoG is to fully support the Devs.

Being their game, I'm fairly sure they will keep the game updated always. Bonus: all your money goes to the developers. Yes, I'd buy it here for sure.

better question : is it a good idea to buy cyberpukk elsewhere ? the answer is no

CD Projekt RED and GOG (CD Projekt BLUE) are like brother and sister (RED being the dominant one, for obvious reasons) so I don't think you should worry about that on this particularly game... XD

And yes, buying it here ensures that 100% of your money goes to (and stays within) The Family.

Reportedly the devs do get significant bonuses for their extra hours they put in over the last weeks though.

Shame really. While men and woman in suits with low on talent(s) gets money "indefinitely, while the real talents gets nothing... That's why I like companies that are shared between the workers where they all benefit from both past and present projects.

Alas, this model is going extinct in the age of mega-corporations. That's really a shame indeed.

Can you give some examples of such companies?

To me that sounds like entrepreneurship. If all "workers" own part of the company, then it must be some small business that doesn't need to hire extra workforce. Like if you are selling hotdogs on your own stand with your friend and you both paid for the stand and pay for the hotdog materials, I guess you both share any profit that your "company" makes.

I currently work in a small IT company which has like 6 owners (who also work the company) and only three workers, one of which is me.

I am totally fine with the idea that I "only" get a monthly salary from the company for as long as I work there, as it means I don't have to invest any money to the company to own part of it, and I am pretty much free to leave the company too if I feel like it. I just don't feel I'd want the extra stress of being one of the owners and having to fear that my investments to the company could possibly be lost at some point if the company loses some important customers or the field becomes too competitive or something.

Naturally it would also mean that if the owners were able to sell the company for million dollahs or some other equally insane amount of monies, I wouldn't see a penny of that, sorry. In the worst case I'd even have to find a new job. And I think that is totally fair.

I think it is also a silly thought that this company wouldn't be able to hire monthly-paid workforce, but if they need extra hands, they'd have to always make the new people partners/shareholders. How could you hire someone fresh from the college when they don't have any money to buy your shares? It is highly doubtful there would be any issues for CP2077 to get updates in time in GOG, as GOG and CDPR share the same parent company.

If anything, GOG will probably get the PC updates first, and e.g. Steam a few seconds after that.

The Stadia version will probably be never updated though.

On the top of my head I can at least give you these examples (and there are more of them).

One is a tech company not far from where I live. I don't remember how exactly how they did it now, but basically they get paid like a normal worker, they all pitch in on decisions the company should take, and they get split bonuses from rest-income/shares they own. I don't remember how big they are but they're less 50 at least.

A family member of mine makes games and also get a share of the bonuses the company creates.

CDPR has something similar, workers there are promised at least 10% of the revenue from CP2077 sales (still too low but it's something).

I think it's more common in small sized tech companies. The bigger they get the more greedy the owners also get :) Through work you're paid with shares and/or digital cash, after a long period of proving themselves I'd imagine... I don't know.

Speaking of shares and mega-corps; not long ago the small/mid-sized company that my wife works in got bought up by a bigger company, and the owners got several millions each + shares in the new company while still continuing in their positions, so yes, wealth is usually only shared with those with lots of money already and with connections. The workers can only dream about getting a bonus if the company does well (which would/could motivate them further).

I have to differ if the product brings in more income than that dev team will have better opportunities in the future, so yes your money still supports them just not instantly.

While I am sure what you say is often the case, do you truly know how things are setup in this instance?

Maybe the DEV's have shares or get royalties, etc.

As for the 100%, they need to pay off the taxes, so it's less than 100%. They are still paid a nice salary, it's not like they are working for scraps. Perhaps, but if the game sells well, they get to write that in their CV, which means they can either keep their job more efficiently or apply for a better one

Actually not true in this case. For the crunch overtime the people affected are promised a cut of the profits. So yes, if you buy CP2077, here or elsewhere, you're directly supporting them.

is it i good idea to pick up the soap in a prison shower?? i dunno, it depends on the exact circumstances, i guess.

but one thing is sure, its NEVAR, really NEVER a good idea to buy any game on gog! here's just a recent example why!
