During the last six months or so, GOG has seen high profile releases such as Alien Isolation, Warhammer 40K Space Marine, the Mafia remake, Chorus, both Kane & Lynch games, both Middle Earth-games as well as Skyrim. Besides these, we also have new high profile games like Bastille and Stalker 2 available for pre-orders.

Before this period, releases of AAA titles were beyond scarce so I guess my question is in the title: is GOG having a renaissance moment and can we expect more high profile/premium games coming here with the same pace?

I'll tell you after "Return to Monkey Island" finally releases here.

With the pre-order bonus.

Oh and "Stray", with GOG exclusive DLC.

And the demo to "Old Skies" that's been on Steam for months now.

Or, what about if "Sea of Stars" releases here next year, one month before the Steam release. That would be a rennaissance all right.

Or spending wildly as the last swing, depends on how you see it. The fact their big Skyrim release was ushered in by two images on twitter doesn't exactly inspire a confident mind


It's good to see Warhammer IPs getting love though, more people on Dawn of War the better

What I can say, unofficially of course, is that GOG is certainly not sleeping when it comes to procuring new titles. There's a rather long (and mysterious) pipeline in the works at the moment.

Looks like it, yes.

Although I wouldn't expect too much from this increased (re-)release output just yet. Patience still is and most probably will continue to be required for the mid as well as the long term (see the aforementioned Return to Monkey Island for instance).

The answer to the question in the thread title remains to be seen and is yet to be determined.

GOG had a huge drought of premium quality games, for a very long time, before they released a few recently.

Releasing a few premium quality games is a step in the right direction, but as of now, it's not enough to say that GOG has fixed the problem. This could just be a temporary thing, with the drought of premium quality games soon to be returning.
