Only still there for the old added games it did put out and nothing more for accounts that got games added?

They can only offer games if the owners agree to make them available, the owners have not wanted to make them available so they can't do anything.

It's really a shame that GoG connect doesn't have a promotion of some kind every now and then.

To some extent you are correct, but it is highly unlikely that none of the publishers would agree to make any game available for over a year, especially considering that they are giving them as freebies on other platforms.

I am sure Connect is defunct because GOG doesn't want to keep it operational, not because there wouldn't be a single game to offer through it. At least they could offer a second round of those previous games if they really wanted.

It's like wolfsite said, the publishers and developers have to agree to give away a free DRM Free copy, more often is for free EA titles that never come to GOG like New Blood titles, they could maybe agree when release a game, but until that day, we have to wait.

You are partially right.

GOG can't force publishers to participate in GOG Connect, but if publishers want to add some of their games to GOG Connect, they can't do so whenever they want.

The thing is, GOG sends invites to publishers to participate in GOG Connect, and they can add their games to GOG Connect only if / when they received an invite from GOG and accepted it.

I know it because I missed the opportunity to get Chasm when it was available on GOG Connect, and when the next massive sale with some games on GOG Connect started, I decided to contact the publisher of Chasm. They told me that this time Chasm will not be available on GOG Connect because they haven't received an invite from GOG to participate in Connect like they did last time.

And it looks like GOG is no longer sending out these invites as I can't even remember the last time any games were available on GOG Connect.

I'd really like to be able to transfer some oldies from Steam to GOG. For example, some games from TopWare Interactive (Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire, KinghtShift, The I of the Dragon).

Oh, and just a reminder that Stellaris was never again available on GOG Connect, although GOG promised to bring it back after they screwed up:

It was never "alive" in the first place therefore it cannot be "dead now," as that presupposes the premise that at one point it wasn't...even though it always was.

It wasn't a great year last year, profit from games aside. So I am guessing the feature is on hiatus, but may return some time later this year or maybe next. GOG will use it when they can is my guess.

You'd have thought with all the free games that were floating around last year, that using GOG Connect would have been a great idea ... clearly not.

We really don't know all the ins and outs of a GOG Connect arrangement by GOG with DEVs/PUBs, but it may be a financial imposition on GOG, and I don't think they did very well financially last year ... until just before the end.

GOG have cut back on a few things, and Epic's war with Steam would be hurting GOG and others.

I did that plenty of times. It was awesome.

And people like you are the problem taking advantage of things being free, your a free loader.

I seriously hope gog.com has stopped GOG Connect permantly.

This is absolutely not fair at all to the PC gamers who only purchase their video games from gog.com exclusively only to see PC gamers purchase their video games from Steam to claim the video games for free through GOG Connect.

No-one gets a game at Steam expecting to be able to get it free at GOG. So they get it at Steam because that's most likely where they want it.

If it does appear at GOG later, then why should they buy it twice?

You talk about those using GOG Connect as doing the wrong thing when really the blame lies elsewhere.
First and foremost there is the issue of DRM.
Secondly there is the greed of DEVs/PUBs taking advantage of those who want DRM-Free, to sell their game twice to the same people. Instead of rewarding you for having bought their game, they penalize you.

What GOG Connect does is act as a fairness tool. To see it as otherwise is to be naive, foolish or selfish.

GOG connect is definitely dead, last time anything showed up on was more than a year ago.
