It feels like years since I've had any compatible games come up on GOG Connect. Is it still functioning and I just haven't been lucky enough to own the right games, or is it a vestigial feature that's still accessible but doesn't really do anything any more?

The TL:DR version is "it's a promotional tool that occasionally gets used, but hasn't in the last year".

Let's just say it's virtually dead but GOG haven't got around to filling in the Death Certificate yet. The push for Galaxy 2.0 to be a Meta Launcher for other launchers has killed off any incentive to continue it.
