Tip it one further and just add: Location: India

May seem inconspicuous, but given similar posts on older threads, it's likely people running spambot accounts priming them for the coming flood phase.

-cerberus-: What's the purpose of Connect then if not to migrate games to a DRM-free platform?
avatar
JAAHAS: To get more potential new customers to sign up here, it is just a marketing stunt which may or may not have cost a fortune to GOG, depending on whether the publishers agreed to allow the Steam licenses be duplicated to GOG licenses for free or if GOG had to pay them a more or less discounted price for each new license.
I *highly* doubt it ever cost GOG anything to do that. This is basically an extension of what was a common practice with Steam keys before. There were tons of developers providing Steam keys for games people owned on their own (developer) websites for instance.

The big difference here was that GOG was able to automate that process because Steam has an API that can connect 'ownership' of a certain title to a specific person(account).

johnsmith101: Title question. I've had my GoG account for a couple of years now but I have only 7 games on it, I remembered that there was a way to connect your account and get a duplicate from your Steam library, but I was never able to pull that off. Is that thing still an option? How does it work?

The one I just quoted happens to have copy/pasted their post from an old reddit thread it seems (merely googled their exact words).

Did similar not that long ago. Though that account is much older and not in India and is ultimately potentially that same user hoping for an answer but I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that it was also some long dormant account that just happened to have a password compromised on another site that a bot user picked up on and just unearthed it via username either.

Relax. You're nothing compared to me.

Do you know how many bridges I've bought in the last ten years!?

TheMonkofDestiny: password compromised
possible, though it appears the games they own have been played at least.

still, always a good idea to sign up at this site: https://haveibeenpwned.com/
(and also check the news on there).

Edit: might actually get a "WE HAVE BEEN INFILTRATED" thread together later to point out these new spammy tactics with a few links like that.

You werent supposed to rub them on GOG connect! o___O~
Now THIS is my kind of thread! :D
avatar
blotunga: I think GOG connect hurt more than it helped. People (including me) were getting the impression that it's not worth to buy indies and small publisher games on GOG, but can instead buy on steam or even in Humble Bundles and wait for the games to get connected. Now with connect mostly gone, I focus all my purchases here.
So you're the one who is responsible!

Pheace: I *highly* doubt it ever cost GOG anything to do that.
Now that is just an absurd claim, as each game put on GOG Connect has to at least have required that GOG and the respective publisher agreed on it, which tends involve lawyers and they don't work for free.

I think you're perfectly aware of what I was talking about there.
