Just saw this on the BBC website

I have to go out for a while I'll read it when I return, and make my conclusion.
low rated
Is it hell! Lazy fat bastards do not equal a sport haha. It's like darts with a keyboard. Little physical effort possible.
I believe it is in the same way as chess or bridge is.

I can recommend you this movie :-)
Not some of their best work(ie; biased), but I'd call it only reasonably fair. ''First person shooter where one team chooses to play as terrorists vs commandos''
Yeah....I'm an athlete!

Shit, I couldn't pass the 'Jerry's Kids' physical!

Gaming is a sport. Just because, there is no chasing of a ball doesn't mean it's not a sport. Sure, being a pro gamer requires less effort than being a pro at football but that doesn't mean gaming is not a sport. Not everyone can be a pro gamer. It takes a lot of effort, dedication and more. Most of us, after playing CS GO every day for a year wouldn't last 10 seconds against CS GO pro players in a competitive match. Those gamers are finely tuned machines, not so different than pro football players, pro baseball players etc

Does it really matter?

But there are many similarities that were pointed out in "The case FOR". "The case AGAINST" boils down to "you don't get physically exhausted" which isn't compelling, especially that there already are "sports" not meeting this requirement.
If I made a ranked list of what I considered real sports, PC gaming would be pretty far down. Probably somwhere between Golf and Bird Watching.
Sport? Video Gaming? LoL! Only in Korea... Seriously, now, i prefer my definition of "sport" right where it should be; pure, hard, PHYSICAL! Nothing beats a hardcore workout!

I wouldn't call it sports, but neither would I call chess a sport. I see it more as some kind of hobby, I suppose. Like reading. Or embroidery. :P

What? You get physically exhausted. Dreamhack Stockholm 2014, that I went to, the final day started at 11 in the morning and ended at 1 in the night. How is that not physically exhausting?
No.

do only athletes participate in sports?
Well I wouldn't call it a sport, but I don't consider a lot of 'sports' to not be sports.
If every other 'sport' can still be called a 'sport' than yes, I suppose playing computer games might as well be called one as well.
Would chess playing be considered a "sport?" It also requires a lot of skill and experience. Computer games are similar in that regard.
