This would be the first multiplatform AAA title I've seen where the console market does not vastly outperform the PC market. Of which the vast majority should be last gen consoles, based on the extreme shortage of current gen ones.

Digital marketplaces have started accepting returns outside their usual policies and they're going to ask for compensations of the cost on top of the sales.

Investors have started asking uncomfortable questions and will jump ship id CDPR can't deliver in on he promises of fixing the game, which, lets be honest, thats not how games development works. It will take them years rather than months.

I'm, not trying to take a piss on the fanboys, I too thought CDPR was one of the finest developers/publishers around, one of probably three publishers that aren't utter crap, but the current situation sure as hell has me seeing them fall from grace.

So, especially after CDP going bankrupt in April I think it's a perfectly valid question to ask. I'm baffled the official support didn't this address yet with the absolute dumpster fire Cyberpunk 2077 is.

Iirc, 59% sales on PC, 41% sales split between the consoles (the Microsoft box and the other one).

If I would be in charge, first order would be to immediately scrap the standalone Cyberpunk multiplayer-thing, and divert the resources for that on to fixing/improving Cyberpunk 2077 instead.

That's already what they did, they didn't scarp it but put it on hold until the single player is fixed.

Cyberpunk 2077 is still the top selling game on GOG and Steam, stop with the histrionics.

I think they will eventually iron out the issues.

Still would scrap it completely though, the multiplayer is going to last one or two years tops, anyway. Until the next hot and hip-with-the-kids multiplayer-bullshit muscles its way into an already overcrowded market segment.
The money really is better spent on other things like maybe a third expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 or/and pre-production on the next Witcher installment instead. After having finished fixing/improving Cyberpunk 2077 of course.

Pfft. The only real reason there has been no word about part 6 is due to the ludicrous amount of money they're raking in via GTA V online. Shark cards, baby! Ugh. Unless that dries up, I'd be very surprised to see another entry anytime soon.

It is more than likely that VI is already work in progress for quite some time now, like it was with RDR2 which also was announced relatively late. And with Online being pretty much stand-alone game at this point they can just release single player and big upgrade to Online independently.
But yeah, probably won't happen earlier than in 2-3 years.

I'm pretty sure the'd get bailed out by the government if they did for some reason started losing money fast, which I don't see them in the near future.

With the major bugs and problems being the console versions, i don't really see that as being the death knell for CDPR.

This is just my gut speaking though. Most likely they will work on fixes, get the orders back that were refunded on consoles, and even put out multiple expansions that are good for all systems.

This is of course 6-12 months down the line. Bug fixes would be first, so for 3 months patches will be put out and when the game is 'good enough' it will return to PS4/PS5. XBox it seems still has the game, I'm sure there's a number of buyers who may just shrug and wait for the fixes rather than demanding a refund.

Though I'm reminded of No Man's Sky... During that big debacle time someone said they were trying to get a refund, so they could just re-buy from GoG a week later... Which makes no flipping sense to me.

no sales number released yet, but if you look at the Steam Charts, the higest amount of users online is 830k. This means on steam only, CP2077 sold more than 830k copies, as i doubt every single person who have bought it have all played it at the exact same time. It is sitting on a 'Mostly Positive' rating, and I doubt many of them would like a refound. at the time of writing this, 533k people are playing CP2077. This is a good number.

Let's take it into £. each copy of CP sold on steam costs £49.99, lest assume the low number of 830k units sold = £41.491.700. Valve takes 30% (depends on contract with CDPR), which leaves £29.044.190. And this is from steam only. No, I do not think CDPR is going bankrupt just yet.

(yes I know it is a quick and dirty calculation, yes I know people can buy steam keys outside of steam for different values, yes i know regional pricing makes it difficult)
