I've had this game since sometime last year now it just freezes at title screen just plays audio and crashes.

I've tried unloading and reloading the game even downloading the launcher again, it still doesn't work.

Its never done this in the year I've had this game. I've heard its happening to other people too. Anyone know if this can be fixed or is this a developer problem?

or should I Just contact support?
I don't own the game myself but I see some posts on the game's forum complaining about similar issues.

Please answer these questions:
- Are you doing this on Windows? Linux? Mac?
- Did you install any DLC for the game?
- What's your current version of the game? Did you update it?

DLC expansion is too expensive so no.

I know its not my laptop causing it not to run others with more advanced hardware have reported the same issue. But I'm running on windows 10

GOG itself hasn't released an updated version of the installer for over a year but I did delete my installer downloaded it again and reinstalled it still same result. I Don't know if GOG needs to update the game to work or if their gonna release a patch but I hope they will do something soon. I Just hope this isn't gonna become a reoccurring problem on GOG with other games.

It sounds like a problem specific to this game for some reason. Apparently one of the suggested fixes is to run it with eDuke32 instead of the official engine, you can do that if you like. Otherwise I'd suggest contacting:

- GOG
- The developers of the game

Weirdly enough PCGW doesn't say anything about this specific crash. The footnotes at the bottom of the system requirements tab say a 64-bit system is required, if you somehow have a 32-bit Windows 10, that might be it, but I personally doubt it.

You can try running the game through CMD to see if it spits any errors out into the command prompt, or check if there are any log files it creates.

I'll probably just contact GOG I have no idea how to contact developers I've heard people using discord but no idea how to use discord.

Can eDuke be installed without needing Duke Nukem? or can it just run any game by 3D Realms? I've only had it explained to me that it runs primarily through Duke Nukem or something like that. I've only seen it used as a MOD to combine serious Sam with Duke Nukem.

I have no idea how to run a gog game through CMD line outside of DOSBOX. I could reinstall the game and run a complete scan of my laptop for corrupt drivers but if others are having a similar issue I don't know if that would do anything.

Discord would require you to have an account and it's fairly simple to use. You would join a "server" in this case the developer's, follow any instructions such as reading rules or waiting a certain amount of time, and then be able to talk in the relevant channel. It's kind of like IRC except streamlined and mainstreamed.

Of course if an email option is available I'd use it.

It should run fine without Duke Nukem. You can also run NAM with it (brutal game though, really feels like getting curb-stomped back in the real Vietnam war), no Duke necessary.

Open the folder Ion Fury is in, shift+right-click anywhere within the folder, "Open command prompt here" or something similar. Type "./[GAME EXE HERE]" if the command prompt says "PowerShell" or "[GAME EXE HERE]" if it doesn't.

Example: "./gun.exe" if PowerShell, "gun.exe" if not. The game executable name will be different for Ion Fury, of course.

Once you run it and get the crash, find out if the prompt says anything new. You should also search your game folder for a file called "fury.log" as PCGW mentions it, or worst case scenario, your whole system.

Even if I get the game to run I might try it with EDuke. I've seen that game, its kind of like maybe Deadly Dozen. My father was in the Vietnam war he knows how bad that was.

I'll take a look through PCGW and a video just to make sure I know what I'm doing. I'll let you know what happens. My CMD line isn't powershell. I was using it a few weeks ago to repair a broken driver. I'll also try finding hopefully an email for the developers or something like that to contact them. Thanks for trying to help.
Hopefully you get the game running! If not, I hope either support channels figure out the solution.
You're always welcome.

So for those that don't know and those that know this will be no surprise.

Sadly the publishers of Ion Fury: 3D Realms for some reason has actively decided to treat GOG as 2nd Class. Ion Fury has received several updates since Aftershocks Release and the Devs of Ion Fury: Voidpoint has made those updates ready but 3D Realms actually handles the updating to the various stores not the devs and they have not made those updates available here as of yet.

So you can fully use Ion Fury with EDuke32 (even tho Ion Fury ships with its own version of the port) and I recommend that, BuildGDX somewhat works but can have issues from time time but I last tried BuildGDX for Ion Fury like a year or two ago so its probably improved greatly since that time.

I will do some investigating and pushing and see if I cant get someone at 3d realms or voidpoint to push 3d realms to get the updates here, but I make no guarantees or promises it will happen.

Wish you success on this endeavor, hopefully this gets the stupid issue resolved.
I'm also ready to assist if you need it.

I tried a few things and have one problem solved finally.

I tried checking all my drivers and running a system wide update on my laptop.

I've also made contact with 3D Realms or at least their support department, I don't know if that will go anywhere I'll be surprised if they actually respond or do anything. After all we all know why Duke Nukem isn't on gog anymore.

I Also tried contacting gog support for all the good that did there is no support contact anymore when I tried to contact them my support request wouldn't go through cause they need a DX--Dialogue report but that doesn't work either it won't let my complaint go through just keeps saying a file must be attached but it doesn't work, I can't contact support about anything, All I got is the forums for support.

After checking everything and doing a full reboot I tried booting Ion Fury again it still doesn't work at least on open GL BUT.... I somehow got it to work on software only, it worked.. It runs but strictly on my CPU. It Runs very smoothly. I don't understand how or why everything I run openGL with works how its suppose to I don't understand why not Ion Fury.

But I've also adjusted the controls to function through my Mouse and Keyboard and set the keyboard mapped the same way I have my keyboard keys set on 'Outlaws' which taught me how to play a game mouse and keyboard only. Plus I now have a reason to use the turbo function for my mouse which made looking around in the game so much easier. I only need the keyboard to move around and interact with the environment.

It works for now but I still would like to know why it doesn't work through openGL. I wasn't able to test it through the CMD line I'm still trying to figure out how to do that.

I don't think I'll need eduke32 from what I've seen on Utoob its already functioning the same as eduke controls.

But I do hope 3D Realms does try to fix it not working with openGL.

Thanks for helping.. I'll let you know if 3D realms responds.
