It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Find what you're looking for faster, easier, and with style.

As some of you have already noticed, today we launched an overhauled navigation system for GOG.com. The goal is simple: to make it faster, simpler, and better for you to explore our store and find what you're looking for.

Browsing our catalog has never been easier: mouse over the Store tab for a neat dropdown menu that contains ongoing sales, a detailed breakdown of our games categories, and several top-tier suggestions.
To bring our games closer to you, we've also made several improvements to our search engine, so locating the title you're after should be much more straightforward now. Those accessing our store through mobile will notice that these changes have dramatically improved their experience, as well.

But that's not all! If you want to reach Support, interact with the Community, or manage your Account, you'll find that the intuitive dropdown menus make for a much more fluid experience, saving you time that could be spent playing your favorite games!

Your account name and avatar are now clearly visible on top at all times, so you can tell at a glance if you're logged in and on which account. Last but not least, redeeming gift codes and switching between languages or currencies is now more readily available with no need to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Enjoy!

elcook: Just wanted to drop in and give you some update about the forum & chat notifications. Yes, we're aware they are missing in the web version. It's because we decided to work on those from the grounds up. For the time being they are working in Galaxy only, but we'll bring it back to the web eventually. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks for the communication on this, better late than never. It's wonderful news to hear that you're reworking notifications from the ground up as they've been a buggy mess for years. Unfortunate that many are without notifications on the web in the intermediate time until you deploy the new stuff though.

Hopefully people can manage with Barefoot Essentials for the time being. That seems to work well for me on most of my browsers for the moment, although some folks might be averse to using addons.

PaterAlf: So why did you kill the old system before the new system was ready? It doesn't make much sense to me. Update notification sure was buggy, but forum reply and chat notifications worked fine.
They worked, but in fairness I wouldn't say they worked "fine". They worked better than nothing, but I would get chat or friend request notifications and then go view them and they would stay there even after I looked at them until I reloaded the page again on good days, or logged out and back in at other times, or even a browser restart to clear them. Same in Galaxy.

It was however better than nothing at all, but it is good to know they're at least working on something presumably better even if they went about it in a way that inconveniences everyone. :)

This sucks more than the news about 14 more Transformers movies. You're essentially treating people who don't use Galaxy like second class users now. I don't know if this is an intentional attempt to push the client in disguise but it kinda looks that way which is total bullshit, and even if it's just ineptitude it's still bullshit. If you didn't have the new navigation system properly working with such a vital feature you simply shoud not have introduced it until you worked it out.

elcook: It would have to be re-worked with the new navigation system we introduced. And since we decided we'll do it all over again, it made little sense to spend more work on something that we'll kill in the near future.
But why on earth would you introduce a new navigation menu before all of its features have been fully developed and integrated?

Sorry, I keep forgetting you guys aren't great at planning. I think I'll just start calling this THE GOG [IN DEV] EXPERIENCE™.

And now for a quick flashback:

Check out Chamb's response below. That was 2½ years ago.

I rest my case.

So why didn't you get this re-worked system done BEFORE you introduced the new navigation? Looks like shoddy planning on GOG's part, once again.

I am happy that you finally told us that it was not intended to remove the notificatioans. So no conspiracy theories anymore regarding this. Was it so hard to finally keep us in the loop? Did it have to take several days to inform the community? (You know, the ones who are paying money here to use your service). Still thankful for the reply - I mean it!

They were buggy from time to time, but for me the notification normally vanished after one or two minutes (after I've checked them of course).

And library (i.e., game update) notifications? Are those part of the ground-up rework, too?

Thanks for the update... glad to know notifications will be coming back, hopefully some of the bugs in the new navigation system get worked on soon as well.

Yeah, hopefully they greatly improve that as things move forward. It seems like they're getting more developers on board and starting to get more work done perhaps. Hopefully this means more frequent improvements, new features etc. in the future.

Jolly good, m8.
Came here to make sure that there's reports that there are no game update notifications. Glad to see it's been discussed. Fix it. (And make sure it doesn't rely on the "notifications" systems that browsers have been incorporating.)
A bit feedback (and a bit acid) after I got acquainted a bit with the new outfit:

- Finally no boring grey any longer! The top bar looks way better now.
- After years(!) you finally managed to order the developers/publishers-list by name (or when did this happen if it's no part of this new overhaul? Anyway, it were years...) ??? Well done.
- Why is ABOUT in the top bar? Way too much in the headlights because this menu point is completely useless to me; I don't use Galaxy and I don't think I'll ever work for you. I would put it between the user name and the cart.

Is this really that new? ... Anyway, returning to something which was better back then is always ... something better.

Oh and uncomfortable and ugly 'Greyness': I won't miss you. Burn in hell. *flings a last fireball after it*
>;-P

EDIT: Ha! Nice and really smart how the top bar changes if you press "Ctrl" and "+" a couple times. :)
I discovered this accidentally, I actually wanted to check how the new font behaves when zoomed in/out.
First I thought: "Where does "MORE" suddenly came from? Why it's not part of the visible bar options? Is this a bug again?" but then it made *click* in head... So you optimized it for different desktop solutions and that's pretty cool. :)
