It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Find what you're looking for faster, easier, and with style.

As some of you have already noticed, today we launched an overhauled navigation system for GOG.com. The goal is simple: to make it faster, simpler, and better for you to explore our store and find what you're looking for.

Browsing our catalog has never been easier: mouse over the Store tab for a neat dropdown menu that contains ongoing sales, a detailed breakdown of our games categories, and several top-tier suggestions.
To bring our games closer to you, we've also made several improvements to our search engine, so locating the title you're after should be much more straightforward now. Those accessing our store through mobile will notice that these changes have dramatically improved their experience, as well.

But that's not all! If you want to reach Support, interact with the Community, or manage your Account, you'll find that the intuitive dropdown menus make for a much more fluid experience, saving you time that could be spent playing your favorite games!

Your account name and avatar are now clearly visible on top at all times, so you can tell at a glance if you're logged in and on which account. Last but not least, redeeming gift codes and switching between languages or currencies is now more readily available with no need to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Enjoy!
What happened to the forum reply notifications icon? Discontinued, broken, or do I make something wrong there?

A pity, because without I may not get to see quite some replies...

xyem: And when the fade overlay is on, it doesn't even apply properly (see red box).
It's the same with all the headings in the topic list pages. Many elements have a higher z-index than the overlay. In fact, the z-index for .menu-overlay is only 2; it should go up to 11 to avoid this sort of effect.

By the way, it's good to see you again :)

In the Galaxy client, nothing, they are still there, working normally. In Firefox and other browsers it's gone, and who knows when it'll return.
The good news is that Barefoot said he/she may add this in the Essentials mod.
Let's see if it'll be necessary (I don't believe the missing notifications is something gog team wanted, in the new system).
I was wondering why the new menus do not appear on my tablet. The menus require cookies to work. Without cookies enabled you do not get any menu at all. Sigh...

Umm.. btw, it's a bit annoying that, every time I have to reach for the tabs in the browser, the GOG menu opens and the forum goes black.
Maybe an "on-click" menu would be better..

HypersomniacLive: And since it's already Friday and past office hours, I guess we're into a weekend of no notifications, and no word if and when we can expect them back; how lovely. Is Monday a public holiday in Poland?
WE HAVE NOTIFICATIONS AGAIN!

At least for replies and chat messages. Don't know about game updates yet, since I don't know if any of my games have been updated since notifications became (at least partially) active again.

Edit: To clarify, I just got some notifications. They show up next to account name with the red doodad. In the drop down, there are...

Wait, false alarm. Barefoot Essentials made it work.

Nice, where is it displayed?
The notifications are back again! Not sure if it's GOG or Barefoot Essentials though. But no matter who it was: Thank you!!!

Edit: It seems it was Barefoot Essentials. Thank you!!!

Ha ha, I knew he would be faster than GOG. :P

Edit: I guess I will have to install BE then. But I have to check what else it modifies, before...

Like this?

I didn't read the thread, and barely noticed that HSL had mentioned it not being fixed yet. I just got all excited when I saw the little red circle again.

Yep, no notification in the new bar.

elgonzo: (Sorry for truncating the quote of your post, but your post is far too long for a full quote...)

What you described would be a terrible idea for scrolling a page or list on a mobile device.
Think about how that would work in real life. You have your eyes on a page which is not fully shown on the display. To scroll to see and read the reminder of the page, you start tilting (shaking, flailing with) the device. Now think about how you -- or rather your eyes -- will keep track of whether you have scrolled enough, whether you need/want to scroll some more, or whether you scrolled too far? Do you see? (Or perhaps: Do you see not?) It's making what should be a most simple procedure a complicated and awkward thing to do. And what about if you shake/move your device involuntarily? (think of sitting in a metro or bus and trying to read something if the page starts scrolling in random direction whenever some minor bump occurs...) How to do page scrolling on touch devices (finger swipe and/or flick) has been solved since the beginning of time, why the desire to replace it with something that is inferior in almost any aspect? (I know there are apps and stuff that allow a browser to do it more or less in ways as you describe, but it is beyond my imagination how anyone could use such without getting annoyed in short time...)
I'll admit it's definitely a stab in the dark. With all the various devices and applications out there I could only guess at the possibilities.

Not knowing what device or which application someone is using, I could only desperately think of the possibility that a motion detection (by means of the ubiquitous accelerometer) might be available. If so, it likely would have to be turned on with a setting, either the application's preferences or the operating system's preferences. I didn't think to mention that part. It seems to me such accessible approaches often require additional hardware, such as switches or other attachments, but in some instances it might be possible without? Certainly desperate measures when not prepared for such matters.

As for such a physical approach ever being sensible, I would have to resort to imagining circumstances when using the touch screen isn't viable. It seems to me touch gestures require a lot of coordination, perhaps a little more so than even with a mouse for a desktop computer, or maybe just differently. What if someone couldn't coordinated physical contact with a touch screen but could coordinate directional movement enough so as to press a button or lever? A means could be provided to have the phone temporarily tilt, such as tapping on something attached to the phone that would cause it to tilt and then return to its non-tilted position (or the original position interpreted as neutral). Sort of like a spring response. In that way scrolling (or whatever was desired) would be activated temporarily and then stop, so it scrolls the content just a little bit in the desired direction. Without special equipment, it might still be possible to simulate that, hence my suggestions of physical motions. Again, I should have thought of mentioning the possible additional need to find a setting to turn on such motion interpretations.

As you mentioned, the conditions would also need to be suitable, t.i. no other motions experienced (such as personal transportation). It wouldn't be a replacement for every circumstance, but instead a supplement for specific circumstance. Like typing by means of voice-to-text isn't merely for people who can't ever type, but instead when in a circumstance (at that moment) that physically typing on a keyboard isn't viable.

Still no official statement on the missing notifications?
