http://i.imgur.com/xYGU5.jpg Please put in some feature or function so the downloader isn't merging one or more files while verifying another and downloading another file which results in major thrashing of the HD (most of the time it's the system-HD, too).
Let it do those task consecutively, for the sake of overall machine-performance and the lifetime of the HD.
Future releases of the Downloader won't include the merging process, so the download will speed up significantly.

I'm getting incredibly slow download speeds: ranging from 100B/s - 800B/s while my network activity widget shows dowload activity of about 200 KB/s. This has led to the strange situation where I've been downloading "To the Moon" all day long, not even finishing the download and racking up an effective count of about 19 GB of data downloaded during the day. This is especially frustrating since I've got capped internet access and a 78,55 MB download has somehow succeded in using up the entire remains of my monthly usage cap and resulting in the purchase of additional data top up packages.
A solution would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the report, we'll try to find a solution for you.
Jettatore: updated manually to 3.0.52.....
Was in middle of downloading BG and the Maps that go with the game, so had two downloads queued up. Errors and crashes after the update knocked out both downloads. I was first able to get the maps back up downloading with a lot of clicking randomly to re-start the downloads, re-start the app, etc... For a while, even clicking the downloads from my games menu wouldn't bring them back, would instead just crash the program...
Well the maps finished downloading and the downloader crashes/freezes at the repair process. I got BG also up and running after the maps crashed and dissapeared again off the downloader without repairing.
win7 x64, all my system drivers up to date.
I'm probably just going to wait a while, do a fresh install, my internet is slow and bandwith restricted anyways so I wouldn't finish the downloads anytime soon, hopefully I can resume them at some point. But just wanted to let the devs know that there was a problem, also tried to submit this last night in the actuall bug submit and the submit wouldn't go through... had the log file attached and everything, but the page wouldn't let me submit, not sure if it was my slow internet or more problems. Overall I'm sure this will be sorted, I had no problems before this update
anyways, thanks
An log file from the Downloader would help us greatly...

As also mentioned in posts by other people, my downloader downloads more megabite than it should (e.g., if the game has 100 mb, it doesn't stop at 100, but adds more). After a while, the downloader will either a) tell me there is a checksum error and contact gog support or b) reset to, say, 80 mb and continue downloading from there (and often go in a cycle where it overshoots, resets, overshoots again etc.) The download folder on my hard drive then contains several pieces of the game files that have not been merged into on exe file. I can only solve this issue by trying a download multiple times, or stop and restart one download many times. Eventually, the downloader gets it right, but it would be great if you can make it work right in the first place.
Many thanks for your effort!
