SamVimes: Hi,
I'm having trouble installing the update. When starting the downloader I'm notified that an update is available, which I then choose to download. The update progress bar appears and finishes the download. However, then I'm told that an error occurred (see attached screenshot). The error message points me to a log file that doesn't exist (there's no GoG.com folder of any type in my Appdata\Roaming folder).
Is there anything I can try? I deactivated my antivirus during one of my several attempts to get the update installed, but it made no difference. I also tried running the downloader as administrator, but this was also fruitless.
Edit: I'm running version 3.1.0 of the downloader.
Destro: Can you please try uninstalling the Downloader and then downloading the 3.1.1 version directly from our server? The link is below:
http://static.gog.com/download/d3/beta/Setup_Downloader_3.1.1.exe Nevertheless it would be great if you could send our Support team the log anyways - we haven't heard about issues like this one.
I came across the same issue. It seems to occur if the %APPDATA%/Roaming/GOG.com directory does not exist during the upgrade. I did not have the directory by default, so the install/upgrade process should take care of creating it first.
Now to a more serious issue I'm having with the downloader - I cannot see any of my games. :)
I can login fine but have never seen the 3.0 stable or 3.1 beta show anything in the list. The "GOG.com downloader mode" is enabled in My Games through the web pages.
*** Added later: Oh wow. I simply had no idea that you have to click the button on the webpage to make a game appear to the list. I thought one would see all the games automatically. Some "how to use" introduction could be useful for us dummies...
