Pay with one click, avoid additional bank fees, and track your gaming budget!

Today, we're rolling out the GOG Wallet, a highly-requested quality-of-life feature aimed at gamers who frequently face international bank fees, use pre-paid debit cards, or prefer the extra convenience and control over their budget.

The GOG Wallet is designed to be user-friendly and flexible: top-up your Wallet with any amount between 5 USD and 500 USD (or the local equivalent) using any payment method; if you're using a pre-paid card, or you're just a bit short on Wallet funds, you can easily combine GOG Wallet funds with other payment methods during checkout. It's easy, fast, and totally safe.

Additionally, any store credit earned with the Fair Price Package (if a product costs more in your country than in the US, we always make up the difference) will now be automatically added to your GOG Wallet funds. Nobody likes to take time out of their gaming to do math, so we're doing it for you!

To kickstart your GOG Wallet and learn about the details, make your way to www.gog.com/wallet.
I already have a wallet.
Nice to see that before the Gwent Beta hits. No idea if the beta will already contain some microtransactions (I'm sure you will be able to already buy cardpacks), but this is a good feature to pay 1€ - 3€ easily from your "wallet", without going to your paypal every time and add a few euros xD

nightcraw1er.488: Nice, will enjoy the rise in hacked accounts, fraudulent games appearing everywhere. Because typing 16 numbers each time you purchase is just way to much effort. Another feature that I will never use.
If you activate the optional security option, the hacker will have a harder time. I guess most people using gOg Wallet will do this, since the hacker will have to get your gOg password, and email password too, just to get some games.
I agree it's a bit lazy to not want to insert some numbers, though. But thanks gOg for giving more options to us! =)

Barry_Woodward: Could the launch of the wallet today be timed to coincide with a new wave of releases? What better way to test the new system? Could we get more 2K, Activision, Bethesda, Disney, Electronic Arts or Warner Bros. Interactive titles?
That is amusing Barry_Woodward. Yup, confirmed, Half Life 3 incoming.
As long as I don't have to use it- fine. Whatever. But isn't calling it a "quality of life feautre" a little... I don't know... grandiose? It's not exactly a new big house with a garden and a friendly elephant on the back lawn. I don't think it really impacts one's quality of life.

Vythonaut: Nice! It should prove very handy during sales.

I think i have seen some of those on steam and gamersgate
NOTHING TO PLAY? YOU CAN USE YOUR WALLET FUNDS TO GET:
Does... not... compute...

As for the wallet itself I won't use it actively, my card fees are fine. But at least it provides bit of meaningles statistics. For example my first (recorded in wallet) "fair price package" game was apparently D:OS. Also the priciest - $5.30 over US price, next lower was $2.60 for Grim Dawn.

Yes, the problem is, that 2step activation is for every login if you remove cache on logout. Hence it is unusable for anyone who already cares about security. I want 2step authentication on account changes, I don't want to have to go through 2step authentication just to check responses on a the forum, or look at game releases. Hence the system is broken. So there is no "option".

I agree with this, should definitely be an option to only need it during account changes (both e-mail and password).

Anyway, great news with a wallet. Crappy name though given that it's basically a fund or one way bank account. Wallet is too pre-2000..
It works, i activated the 2step, added funds and then after a confirm email i disabled the 2step , and bought a game at sale, got deducted nicely from the wallet and i saved the 2 mails as pdf.

The above about covers my thoughts too.

Not cache, cookies. Which you can selectively enable - I have "treat all cookies as session" on, and few exception for sites I don't mind remembering me. Not a solution for everyone, but good enough for the 97.547% of people (of course I pulled that number of of my... mind).

You guys should consider adding GOG gift cards on Amazon/other stores like Steam does. Might be useful to some.

That's the price to pay if want to make your Wallet safer. It's not optimal, but not the end of the world.
Maybe someday they will add more options, so it will please you.
But considering your point of view, wallet is not really for you.
You'd probably not even use it if they added more security, would?

Vythonaut: I wonder if GOG is going to implement such feature in the future, although i can already see the difficulty of it due to the fact that many games seem to be unrated (or at least i don't see their rating in their gamepage). Anyway, just food for thought...
Two comments on this.
1) GOG states in the ToS that you should be 18 or older to make an account, or ask your parents for permission.
2) Rohan15 (I think) had mentioned at some point that he was unable to buy The Witcher (or The Witcher 2) since his birthday showed him to be underage (which he was). I don't recall any other such incidents, but it may be that GOG already has such measures in place, but we just never trigger them.
