Pay with one click, avoid additional bank fees, and track your gaming budget!

Today, we're rolling out the GOG Wallet, a highly-requested quality-of-life feature aimed at gamers who frequently face international bank fees, use pre-paid debit cards, or prefer the extra convenience and control over their budget.

The GOG Wallet is designed to be user-friendly and flexible: top-up your Wallet with any amount between 5 USD and 500 USD (or the local equivalent) using any payment method; if you're using a pre-paid card, or you're just a bit short on Wallet funds, you can easily combine GOG Wallet funds with other payment methods during checkout. It's easy, fast, and totally safe.

Additionally, any store credit earned with the Fair Price Package (if a product costs more in your country than in the US, we always make up the difference) will now be automatically added to your GOG Wallet funds. Nobody likes to take time out of their gaming to do math, so we're doing it for you!

To kickstart your GOG Wallet and learn about the details, make your way to www.gog.com/wallet.

Smannesman: Isn't just paying with money or a credit card simpler?
Some people might want to
- keep track of their store credit
- make many small purchases with a single financial transaction (for example, multiple gifts)
- minimise large transaction fees that some (unusually terrible) banks charge
- give a spending allowance to a dependant

Also, GOG cuts down on their own financial overhead

trusteft: QUESTION to GOG,
will this finally mean the end of being forced to use our Store Credits during big sales? Whenever one was on, we HAD to use the store credits as the choice was greyed out. Very annoying.
Err, question. Is there any benefit to NOT using your store credit as soon as possible? Because "I want to pay 1$ more and keep my 1$ store credit for the time being" does not sound really useful.
I may be missing soething, though...

UhuruNUru: Does it come in black leather, and fit in my back pocket, if it did, I'd get one.
To be honest though I'd prefer a GOG hoody, or T-Shirt.

Otherwise, I'm not interested, as long as like Galaxy it's optional, I will just ignore it.

I'm here for ond thing, ganes with an offline installer, I detest store clients and everything associated with them.
Including so called online games, if the games online, it should have the functionality as part of the game.
Designed specifically for the games requirements.

I only want the games, isolated and complete, nothing more than that.
About the 'online games' steam has many 'free' full game to be played online via steam ofcourse (i wont do that) but these games are loaded with micro transactions , thats where the devs get the real money from, from kids who see nice outfits and other things so they download a free full online game and pay through the nose using these small 'micro transactions'.

Depends on local business practices. Some people get screwed by fixed fees on every foreign transaction, no matter how small. Game on sale for $2? That'll be an extra $5, lololololol. I mean, I'm used to Russia being generally a shithole rights-wise, but the card plan horrors I read about on the interwebs are illegal here. Overdraft fees? 300%/year off the overdraft amount (which is ~$1, so, nothing to worry about). None of that, "oh, due to our crappy accounting you've managed to draw an extra 2c, eat a $50 fine". But there are absolutely first-world countries where scams like the latter are an accepted fact of life.

Wallet is a stupid name, though. You should have kept Credits.

Yes, some times you can't use your credit card for whatever reason. You want to have some money in credit store so that you can buy that game that is on sale for the next 2 hours.
Also, especially during rolling sales, you don't want to use your credit card 20 times in a row for 1.50 euros and then have your bank call you for it.

nightcraw1er.488: Shame its broken for anyone who clears cache on exit. 2step authentication would be marvelous, on account changes, however the broken implementation now means it is unusable. Which will also combine nicely with this new release, will make hackers worldwide very happy :o(
Clears cash on exit, i assume you mean browser (FF) cache? i hope not cause i always autoclean my browse and history cache, i never store passwords on my pc, i log in manually when i buy a casual game on steam and i never let the client or browser remember my passwords.
Yes i have the pw stored on paper, put securely away in a metal fireproof box, and i only use the pw theres also no name written to indentify every password, pw are too complex to remember but when i see the pw i know to which account it belongs :D ( i only have 5 accounts in total so thats why i can remember them)

I recognize that aswell, i dont use cards , but PSC and these motthas started to 'nag' in the beginning, because i made 12 transactions in 30 minutes, from various PSC i bought apparently their poor online system isnt made for that, they also dont like fasttypers cause when too many tranaction are made within a very short period of time they strated to nag.
Anyway, automated services doesnt seem to like fasttyping people.
The good thing is they changed the way to enter the code and for now it seems it can handle more and faster typing, plus they made the amount left and total amount visible to make it easier to see what amount needs to be paid, so thats a big improvement from PSC, but i wont buy any card > 10 euros, i rather buy a few tenners then 1 big one :D
In the Wallet section i read: "Track your personal or family gaming budget. If you're a parent, you decide exactly how much anyone can spend."

I wouldn't call GOG exactly "children safe". Not only because of the state of the forum (let's face it, in an unmoderated forum anything can happen and the most common example is foul language) but also because of game rating; as a parent i can top up my kid's account but how can i be sure my kids won't buy Postal or any other PEGI Rating: 18+ game?

I wonder if GOG is going to implement such feature in the future, although i can already see the difficulty of it due to the fact that many games seem to be unrated (or at least i don't see their rating in their gamepage). Anyway, just food for thought...

Which i probably will skip :D
the fact that i cant play any game (3d/fpp flashes, lots of fast motions) is a sad thing but the good thing is : i will keep a lot of cash in my wallet, i guess i have 1or 4 games out of every 40 games batch, sometimes 10 out of 20 but lately i haven't been able to get lots of games, i am waiting for the new game jef vogel made.
Could the launch of the wallet today be timed to coincide with a new wave of releases? What better way to test the new system? Could we get more 2K, Activision, Bethesda, Disney, Electronic Arts or Warner Bros. Interactive titles?

Kardwill: Put 50$ before the sales, and avoid getting wild with your credit card? ^^
Isn't it the same as hide-the-pack-of-cigarettes-so-you-won't-get-wild-smoking? :P
Must... refrain... til next... big... sale...

Although, I'll also hold off using the new wallet system for about 2 weeks while others test it and see how well it works. I'll be happy to hear if it works fairly flawlessly, then put $25-$100 in for all purchases for the remainder of the year.
