Pay with one click, avoid additional bank fees, and track your gaming budget!

Today, we're rolling out the GOG Wallet, a highly-requested quality-of-life feature aimed at gamers who frequently face international bank fees, use pre-paid debit cards, or prefer the extra convenience and control over their budget.

The GOG Wallet is designed to be user-friendly and flexible: top-up your Wallet with any amount between 5 USD and 500 USD (or the local equivalent) using any payment method; if you're using a pre-paid card, or you're just a bit short on Wallet funds, you can easily combine GOG Wallet funds with other payment methods during checkout. It's easy, fast, and totally safe.

Additionally, any store credit earned with the Fair Price Package (if a product costs more in your country than in the US, we always make up the difference) will now be automatically added to your GOG Wallet funds. Nobody likes to take time out of their gaming to do math, so we're doing it for you!

To kickstart your GOG Wallet and learn about the details, make your way to <span class="bold">www.gog.com/wallet</span>.

xyem: Introducing GOG Wallet!

Brought to you by the same people that:

* can't code a search function
* have to disable the "Owned" functionality due to a sale and sometimes don't re-enable it until months after the sale had ended
* can't keep people's libraries populated with everything that has been added to them
* have created a man-in-the-middle attack by archiving all the pre-2015 topics, changing their urls
* can't count or do math (seriously, go to the games page and filter to "under $5" and see games that are over $5 listed there, then filter to "under $10" and notice all the ones that are over $10 there.. while all the sub $5 are missing).
* exposed every forum-goer to attack
* allowed people to create accounts with the same name as existing accounts

Yeah.. no. Anyone trusting GOG to hold their money safely is crazy.

They have an incredibly poor track record of robust and secure systems. The only saving grace was that there was so little incentive to attack.. now there is!

EDIT: At least this reminded me that I needed to fix the links on GOG Wiki due to the archiving.
Good points, and I understand the possibility of hijacking with the new feature. But what about yourself, being an older member and knowing about many security vulnerabilities, instead of pointing out the bad track record you could as well bring out some things they got right.

They still managed to keep this place quiet safe for a lot when I would expected, from the time I came to this place. Even before the registration I also wasn't sure If i wanna trust them.

And one question: Are you gonna use GoG for game purchases in the future?
It's a nice feature, although I don't need it. But I am disappointed that credit related to the Fair price package will still expire, it could have been the opportunity to change that :(

It won't expire if you combine it with purchased funds.

LOL!!!

Add to the list:

* can't make the account ORDERS HISTORY section actually display all of the pages of your order history without puking server errors that nobody has nor likely ever will fix or seem to even care about.
Oh I totally forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me :D
"Fun" times ;-)

iRevolt: instead of pointing out the bad track record you could as well bring out some things they got right.
The only thing I can think of that they got right (system-wise), which relates to this, is not storing card details (which this undermines).. other than that, if someone did lose money from their GOG wallet for whatever reason (and noticed..), I know GOG would set them right, based on their past record of doing so (see: Botinacula, which wasn't even their fault).

iRevolt: And one question: Are you gonna use GoG for game purchases in the future?
Yes, I'm still on my quest to own the entire (game) catalogue (I'm at about 1400/1700 or 82% according to Magog).

At first, when I purchased games here it was to support both DRM-free games and support GOG. Over time, the latter has dwindled but the former is just as strong as ever. GOG would have to start being malicious for me to stop buying here.

EDIT: Added note that the Botinacula thing wasn't even GOG's fault, but they still "put it right".

EDIT #2: The news post from GOG regarding Botinacula, which, amusingly, has a broken "SEE COMMENTS" button due to the archiving. Forum topic is here.

I don't know why some of you complain about this.

It is like Gamersgate's bluecoins or Steam wallet credit...

This feature allows that people like me, who can not spend 50 or 60U$D for a game, to save smaller amounts (like 25U$D ) per month in this virtual wallet, so at the end of the year the final amount of money in the GOG wallet will be 100 U$D...

With 100 U$D in the GOG Wallet, I can buy any AAA game released on the store...

Now, make a deal with PayU, so I can pay with argentinan cash through Rapipago or Pagofacil.

zeogold: Not to start a fight here, but could somebody explain to me why this is useful? It seems like it's just an easier way to track any store credit you get for various reasons. It makes sense for Steam since Steam has gift cards you can buy in retail stores. I'd get it if you could gift people funds, but it doesn't seem like you can (and most folks have wishlists anyways). What's the advantage of this over just using a credit card each time or saving your credit card information?
Since GOG is based out of Cyprus some people have significant trouble with credit cards being denied or triggering fraud flags. That seems have gotten better but it's still just bad luck and happens more with multiple short transactions, i.e. in sales when people really want to get the game right now.

Also avoiding high conversion fees by only paying the fee for one transactions.

Part of what kept GOG safe was that they didn't store any money. Remember, Steam hacking didn't become a huge business until Steam Wallet started either. Now that GOG is storing people's money, it's a much bigger target. They really need to be sure of their security.

I'll still purchase from GOG but I don't see myself using the wallet feature any time soon.

That said, I know a lot of people really do want this and have asked for it. I can see how it would be useful if your bank has problems with GOG transactions or you want to avoid transaction fees, for example. But for me the potential cost doesn't outweigh the benefits because I haven't run into those problems much.

Thank you for response, I appreciate for taking your time and pointing many things I didn't know or not that I wanted to be more informed about a company I'm dealing with. Now i'll definitely look more closely to what is happening here.

As you pointed out, I also love to support the DRM-free games and with that being said buying from here we still kinda support GoG no matter what, we want this or not.

So I'm gonna stay here for a while and hope that they'll provide great service and great deals in the foreseeable future.

Digital_CHE: I don't know why some of you complain about this.
I do. :) Gog's customer base is large enough that the forum user base is large enough that GOG could literally develop a cure for all known diseases and how to resolve world hunger permanently and stomp out poverty worldwide - and there would still be people that found something to complain about it or find a way to put a spin on it that GOG is evil for what they did, or even something like "WTF GOG? You have all the time and resources in the world to solve world hunger, poverty and cure all diseases but you don't have enough time or manpower to fix the forums?"

Those of you who are laughing now are doing so because you know I am right. :) Those of you who are not laughing now, are not laughing because you are the ones that would be saying that and are taking it personal knowing I am talking about you. :)
I'm going to wait for the Wallet Of The Year Edition with all the DLCs included and the OST.
"GOG Wallet funds provided by us as ‘Free Wallet’ (e.g. in relation to our Fair Price Package): one year expiry date"
"As mentioned above, GOG Wallet funds themselves are not refundable."

= I don't care about GOG Wallet for me there is no difference between this and the old Fair Price Package.

If you introduce this for Gwent microtransitions this is not good at all. that pay2win, not-drm-free game have no place in gog.

Yes. And since it's negative european rates, you lose money every month. :)

I hope Gwent has microtransitions! After playing No Man's Sky with its painfully slow macrotransitions that lock up the entire user interface for 30 seconds every time some insignificant event happens or during dialogue etc., I greatly welcome microtransitions as I'm impatient!

Just the interest of hackers trying to steal your account. :)
