UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

As I see in my profile, GOG was collecting play statistics for some years now. Good to know.

They're Galaxy stats...
Thanks for the implementation of player profiles, GOG.

But I have one very important question: is it possible to check what games give profile backgrounds? There are some games I own here but have no background in the selection.
Just at a quick (and surprised, didn't expect it to hit now) glance, lots doesn't seem to work (IE11) and options from library not available in profile for sorting games. Also oddly the profiles section seems to act like the forums in terms of the menu bar, which doesn't expand, though elsewhere on the site it does.

Will get back to it later...

Looks nice enough but I don't see it as a feature I would use to any great degree.

For now, setting Privacy to max until it's determined what is visible and what is not.

I'm not against the idea, gOg, but I would like to remind you to make sure users have the option to opt out of every bit of sharing.

puviani: With privacy settings on maximum, you can still see the number of games in someone's library and the number of hours of play that were tracked by Galaxy. That's none of anyone's business and it's not up to you to decide to make that public. When someone wants privacy, you should hide the profile entirely.
Agreed!

Esmeralda95: I really like the wallpapers for our profiles, but I hope you release more in the future!

Nicole28: There's something I realized! Wallpapers are limited to the games that you own. Only if you own the title, will the wallpaper for it show up in your selection.
And only for some of your games, not all have a wallpaper (for example Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and 5, The Cat Lady...)

Hi GoG,

Thank you for continuing to innovate. I'm sure there will be speed bumps and setbacks along the way, but progress isn't always smooth.

After reading a few pages/posts here I just had to add another feature request:

Thank you Team GOG.
The profiles look cool.
I wish it was not 0hrs played for non-galaxy users. :P

Just drop IE11. Install e.g. Firefox and/or Chrome and use it instead.

Since MS isn't interested in bringing new features to IE anymore, neither are online services interested in testing their functionality against IE. So if you are not on Windows 10 yet (where the newer Edge browser is the default choice for most), I suggest you use some non-IE / non-MS browser.

I have both Chrome and Firefox installed on Windows 7, and on Linux Mint Firefox is my default browser of choice. In fact, I use Firefox also on my Android phone.

gog.com is not the online site/service where IE has problems nowadays, I've seen issues on many other sites too. It is out of the loop now. Specifically on GOG I nowadays use Chrome, earlier I used Firefox here.
