UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

boztix: Many users are tired of users like you [...] now leave us alone

boztix: here there is a small group of users who do not respect those who think differently
GOG has a long history of screw-ups, but what this thread has really shown us is that there are some users who can't even play nice and not peek into and post data from profiles of users who have not expressedly asked others to do so or consented it by claiming that they see no problem with the way GOG implemented and announced the profile system.

As it happens, such users are the only ones I would deny the right to see my profile, so luckily the fact that I never post on a thread before reading it through, delayed me long enough to have GOG finally give us the ability to disable the profiles completely.

edit:
@boztix
Just realized I had already said most of the thing I wanted to say in my previous post so there's no need to do that again. I suggest you to read it as you seems to have missed some of that judging by your statements.

I strongly believe that users here just want a better service for eveybody, even the critical one. So contribuition on that matter should be encouraged. While we may disagree on some priorities, I think the way they are implemented and communicated should be a common goal.

It's hilarious, how two social media junkies (boztix and mariushispano) always return to our little cesspool here, to declare, what an awful cesspool this is, and that they'd rather have nothing to do with it anymore.

Then they declare, that they get pestered, which - I guess - is already committed by not agreeing to their opinions, and which of course, could easily be prevented, by just staying away from a thread, where 99,5% of the users don't share their opinion, nor ever will.

But that's not enough, oh no...
Especially Marius frequently returns to demand:

1) this thread to be closed
2) the users not agreeing with him to be banned

Apart from that, he has a very strange understanding of what the users in this thread want.
For him, the option for us to have our profiles hidden /disabled, seems to be equal to an imposed prohibition for him to set his profile to "public to everyone" and share his achievements and playtime.

But the best is, that both "publicy-lovers" have parts of their own profiles set to private...can you spell: "hypocrisy"?

Look, it's pretty obvious. Messieurs Boztix and Marius are obviously GOG employees pretending(?) to be retarded & trolling the HECK (I don't like to swear, it's horrible) out of us, in the hopes everyone packs up & leaves.

They're not doing a very good job (which further proves my theory), but you have to admire their persistence.

Nah, I like to think, GOG would hire better actors to troll us.

Correct people will always be around nothing you can do about , a small group that believes that what they think is right and should be right for everyone, they would love to do the thinking for you , they always try to be correct and even try to correct others whom they believe should be like them, lucky for us there arent many of them yet ...

HeartsAndRainbows: [...] There seems to be a great tool under Linux (of course) that not only downloads your library for you but also adds these and other bits of information automatically. Unfortunately I've forgotten the name of it because my brain is too busy remembering stuff like the names of trolls with multiple accounts, cultural information I've learned through KoL or the list of companies that have wronged me in the past and how...

Pangaea666: Thanks. If you remember that tool again, please let us know :) [...]

valkaiser: I use lgogdownloader, that's probably what they are referring to.
After consulting with my source again, it turns out that it was indeed the LGOGDownloader: https://github.com/Sude-/lgogdownloader
Sorry for the delay and thanks to valkaiser for their contribution.

Two last pieces of advice for backing up your entire library:
01) Do one last check, especially if you downloaded for multiple OSes and/or multiple languages.
02) You have a movie section. Practically never curating that one, I almost forgot to download one of my movies that I hadn't watched yet.

Hmm... since I all the GOG employees I ever was in contact with (and those are quite a few) turned out to be really friendly and forthcoming people... it makes sense they're simply not talented for trolling.

On the other hand most actually and obviously cared about their company and the users so I don't think you're on the right track here.

I have to admit Boztix/Marius (I believe it's the same person) does this really well. Repeating the same unfounded claims over and over ad nauseam until people go up the walls and become aggravated - the using the more unfriendly responses to "prove" how toxic we all are and demanding the locking of the thread.

Small world. Sign on for the day and see a reply 1 minute ago. Heh.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I actually tried to get both LGOGDownloader and GOGrepo working yesterday evening, but it didn't work to log in due to recaptcha. There was an error message to that effect on lgogdownloader and I reckon it was the same issue on gogrepo. Hopefully there is a workaround. Bit of a pain to add all files manually. Yesterday I had added around 500 files to uGet. Then the thing crashed and somehow everything was gone from the queue. But I did get down ~150 GB, so it was a good start.

HeartsAndRainbows: You might have the option to not care, but I don't. :/

StingingVelvet: Of course. I was only replying to your list of responses by adding another, which I feel is the most common (right or wrong).
I am so sorry, StingingVelvet. I honestly didn't get that yesterday and I feel suitably stupid for that.

From that angle, that is actually a good point and for what it's worth, I'll add it to the list.

I had the impression the absurdity of my claim, plus the fact that all I've been doing is throwing a bit of fuel to the fire every now & then would make it clear that I wasn't being serious, but apparently not.

I wasn't being serious. :)

Hello again, elcook

I am wondering if you will be sending one of your arrogant patronizing messages to another person who cares a lot about online privacy, enough to seemingly sacrifice his job for it.
I am sure he would appreciate being told that he is in a minority and not important in the grand scheme of things - although I guess that Zuckerberg will have told him that already.
