UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

vanchann: I'm going to send a support ticket too!
i think it is useless to send support ticket
it is not a bug or an error, it's intended and they wont have any solution for that, as it is not to be fixed

Breja: This is great. Fantastic. My post (post 18) raising the issue of the number of games in my library being publicly visable despite everything being set to private has been deleted.

A trace of it only survives because viperfdl quoted me in time.

Oh thi is just superb, GOG. Good job.

I wonder how long will this post remain here for. Great way of solving the issue.
If i'm not mistaken, along with your valid concerns, your post also contained a little bit of swearing, am i right? I don't think that GOG has anything to do with the deletion of your post; i guess it's just that you've been downvoted AND reported and this in turn triggered the Automatic Forum Post Cleaner 2000™.

Darvond: Ah, late on time.
Glad to see my prediction was correct.

Here, I'll start with an obvious question: What if someone uploads smut to their profile?
great idea... i'm now seriously considering doing just that, frankly !

they at least didnt make the error of letting user the possibility of uploading custom backgrounds or pics :)

nightcraw1er.488: So what exactly can you see on these profiles if everything is set to private? I just checked tinye's one and can see nothing (probably thankful of that), but there was some talk about games owned and things being shown even if private. Can't seem to see everything on mobile so would be good to know.

Desmight: I can see that you have 1158 games (desktop)
Thanks, so it is effectively showing information even with all the options ticked.

paladin181: Forum pop. And jeez you guys suck about not giving prior notice to everyone.
they did, just 3 days ago, on friday, before weekend and GOG office closed for the weekend:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/introducing_new_privacy_settings

you were supposed to be informed already !

well, be happy though, that makes you "out of" the "oversensitive" (understand whining bitching) minority of ours !

happy, now ?

Zergoss: And that you don't use Galaxy, 0 achievements and 0 hours played
No too worried about that :o)

Djaron: they at least didnt make the error of letting user the possibility of uploading custom backgrounds or pics :)
Give it time. :P
Wow, you give us FREE backgrounds for the games we purchased, that's what I'm talking about GoG team.
You guys putting in that work, it's gonna pay off in the future I'm telling you.

Correct. As noted, the number of games you own, and - if you use Galaxy - number of achievements as well as hours played.

I think it's cool. Some of the tinfoil hat comments in here are amusing.

Lifthrasil: And if you refuse to set the Privacy settings to private by default, at least explain why? What does GOG gain from setting information of their users to public by default? And why is that gain more important to you than the privacy of your customers?
I guess it's the same reason we've got installers infected with Galaxy as the default option.
If a majority of users stays hidden, then all of this social crap is useless. You can't compare achievements with them, you can't see what they're playing, etc. It's counterproductive to the GOG's efforts.

Sniskerbobberton: Looks really good, maybe next on the agenda sort out the bad devs/pubs that completely abandon their games here? Not to pee on your parade or anything.
i'd rather have GOG adressing their slacking in delivering keys for devs who bothered/risked to do business with them

like in "For the King" ! we Kickstarter backers locked down our choice about wether we wanted steam or gog key for final release of game like what, MONTHES ago ! game was released april the 19th and the devs are still starving to get all the required keys from GOG which is late/very slow at manually delivering them enough keys for a number that was already known in advance.

as a backer here, i cant play a game i backed up over a year ago just because the devs were stupid enough to try to release their game also here on GOG !

but NOOOO, SOCIAL profiles were utmost priority, and the hell away if GOG keeps discouraging devs from dealing with them (magnum opus curation hiccup, not delivering keys to devs for game release, aht whatsoever)
Hmm, likes seem to disappear when refreshing. Anyone else getting this?
