amok: I like the idea of the client, and it has been one thing that gOg have been lacking (especially auto patching if really wanting to introduce alphas), I must say that the share hubris of the highfaluting announcement is astonishing...

Someone must tell gOg you do not own your games, you own a license to play them. And it is good to hear that an optional client finally have got a term: "We call it the OPTIONAL CLIENT" - and it has such a nice ring to it. As announcement goes.... this was not the best. "We call this FREEDOM OF CHOICE"...... *sigh*

Yes as you can't test out the new features without a game and it's nice to be able to do both at the same time :)

Now apparently preordering Witcher 3 gives beta keys. Where do I find these? They aren't in the confirmation e-mail. Or do I need to sign up for Galaxy beta?

The pre-order page says that the beta keys will be available in Summer 2014 :)

WAG Beta hasn't started yet. Keys should be delivered once it does.

It was a load of PR speak without substance and even factual wrong information. You do not own your games, you own a license to play them. Freedom of choice is not something "we call" as a new invention, it is something it is. "We give you freedom of choice" for example, is much better. "We call this FREEDOM OF CHOICE" almost implies that this is a gOg invention. and the share audacity to announce an optional client and then say "We call it the OPTIONAL CLIENT". It is like a bad comedy film. "I have made an mechanical horse... I call it the MECHANICAL HORSE"... and it is also not a gOg invention, Desura, for example, have had an optional client for years.

F4LL0UT: I really love what I'm hearing and don't share any of the concerns some others seem to be having. It makes GOG more attractive to both developers/publishers and gamers and the cross-play thing is that one big clever move that may take care of the toughest barrier. I for one am excited and hope that most games that are already here and are missing some of the features available in the Steam release will get the Galaxy treatment.
I'm with you. I think Galaxy has the potential to be the perfect answer to the devs who refuse to consider GOG because NO AUTO UPDATING, NO SUPPORT, etc, etc, etc. Now they'd have a delivery system and no longer have an excuse.

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. Are you saying that currently it doesn't support downloading GOG games? I wasn't under the impression that it was ready to completely replace the GOG downloader RIGHT now. But I would be interested in beta testing its downloading features right this moment if possible.
